About this item

Most shardbearer Great Runes need to be restored at their associated Divine Tower before their normal benefits can be used.

After restoration, select a Great Rune at a grace and use a Rune Arc to activate its benefit. Simply carrying the rune does not keep its combat effect active.

The active benefit normally lasts until death. Resting does not require another Rune Arc, but dying does.

In-game description

The Great Runes you receive by defeating shardbearers have lost their beneficial power.

However, their power can be restored at Divine Towers throughout the Lands Between.

See the description of each Great Rune to discover which Divine Tower you should visit.

Where to find

First acquired Great Rune

Stormveil Castle

Starting Site of Grace: Godrick the Grafted

  1. Follow Stormveil's cliffside entrance through the ramparts to Rampart Tower, then continue through the castle toward the courtyard guarded by soldiers and a troll.
  2. At the upper end of the courtyard, go right into the small room containing Secluded Cell. Rest here before entering the nearby fog gate.
  3. Defeat Godrick through both phases to receive the remembrance automatically. The dragon-head phase is part of the same fight.
  4. Godrick also awards his dormant Great Rune. Receiving your first dormant Great Rune introduces this tutorial; restoring it at the tower is a later step.

Notes

  • Most shardbearer Great Runes need to be restored at their associated Divine Tower before their normal benefits can be used.
  • After restoration, select a Great Rune at a grace and use a Rune Arc to activate its benefit. Simply carrying the rune does not keep its combat effect active.
  • The active benefit normally lasts until death. Resting does not require another Rune Arc, but dying does.
  • Rennala's Great Rune of the Unborn is an exception: it supports rebirth and is not restored at a tower, equipped or activated with a Rune Arc.
  • The first tutorial can come from a different shardbearer if you explore in another order. Godrick is the selected early route, not a requirement to obtain every other Great Rune.
