Limgrave

Starting Site of Grace: Deathtouched Catacombs

  1. From Saintsbridge in northern Limgrave, follow the road west uphill. Before the roadside camp, take the slope on your right to the higher cliffside ledge.
  2. Look for the double doors with a seated spirit beside them. Open the doors, go inside Deathtouched Catacombs and activate the grace.
  3. Descend toward the sealed boss door, then take the stairs to the left into the skeleton rooms. Hit fallen skeletons again while they begin glowing to stop them reassembling.
  4. At the lower stairs, look for the small passage beside and beneath the staircase. Go through it into the side chamber, then take the opening on the left toward the raised ledge.
  5. Deal with the skeleton archers on that ledge and loot the corpse hanging over the edge for Uchigatana. You do not need to defeat the Black Knife Assassin for the weapon.

Notes

  • Requires 11 Strength and 15 Dexterity, weighs 5.5 and has a Critical rating of 100. With Standard affinity, Dexterity contributes more strongly to physical damage than Strength.
  • Its normal weapon hits have 45 blood loss buildup on Standard. Blood loss only triggers on vulnerable targets, and the burst is separate from the damage of the sword hit itself.
  • Arcane does not improve the blood loss on Standard or Keen because those versions have no Arcane scaling. An affinity that adds Arcane scaling can let Arcane improve the supported blood loss buildup.
  • The default skill is Unsheathe. Hold the skill button to sheathe the blade, then use a normal attack for the quick horizontal cut or a strong attack for the downward strike. The normal follow-up costs 10 FP and the strong one costs 15; entering the stance costs none.
  • The strong Unsheathe follow-up is useful for breaking an enemy's stance. It still deals damage through the weapon and affinity you are using, rather than a separate projectile that always scales with one attribute.
  • Can use compatible Ashes of War and upgrade to +25 with Smithing Stones. Keen favors Dexterity, Heavy shifts the focus to Strength, and Blood or Occult introduces Arcane scaling. The best damage choice depends on your attributes and target.
  • Grease or a weapon enchantment can be applied while using an affinity that allows weapon buffs. Standard, Heavy, Keen and Quality allow them; Blood, Occult and elemental affinities do not allow ordinary weapon coatings on this katana.
  • Unsheathe already belongs to the starting weapon. You do not need to find its separate Ash of War to use the skill, and changing the weapon's skill does not permanently destroy the original default.
  • Samurai starts with one, and the catacomb corpse provides another. A Samurai can therefore obtain two in one journey; other starting classes have the single fixed catacomb pickup unless another player gives them a copy.
