About this Ash of War

Costs 13 FP. Thrust the weapon into the ground to create a short-range gravity well around you, pulling susceptible enemies closer. It can also pull some flying enemies down, but large bosses may take damage without moving.

The well deals magic damage based on Intelligence, weapon reinforcement and the selected affinity. Magic and Cold can improve the Intelligence contribution. The weapon's own physical attack rating does not directly set the well's damage.

The weapon stab can make contact separately from the gravity effect. That actual weapon hit uses your weapon setup and can apply its status buildup; the surrounding magic does not inherit bleed, poison, rot or grease from the blade.

In-game description

This Ash of War grants an armament the Magic affinity and the following skill:

"Gravitas: Skill originating from the Alabaster Lords, who had skin of stone. Thrust the armament into the ground to create a gravity well. In addition to dealing damage, this attack pulls enemies in."

Usable on melee armaments (small armaments and whips excepted).

Where to find

Alabaster Lord on the southern beach

Limgrave

Starting Site of Grace: Seaside Ruins

  1. Reach Seaside Ruins on the southern Limgrave cliffs, south of Dragon-Burnt Ruins.
  2. Look southeast along the cliff for the spiritspring leading down to the beach. Use Torrent and aim into the spring's safe landing area rather than jumping from an arbitrary point.
  3. On the sand, find the Alabaster Lord patrolling by the stone arch. Defeat it to receive Gravitas.
  4. This is the beach below the starting area, not the inland evergaol or a mine boss.

Notes

  • Costs 13 FP. Thrust the weapon into the ground to create a short-range gravity well around you, pulling susceptible enemies closer. It can also pull some flying enemies down, but large bosses may take damage without moving.
  • The well deals magic damage based on Intelligence, weapon reinforcement and the selected affinity. Magic and Cold can improve the Intelligence contribution. The weapon's own physical attack rating does not directly set the well's damage.
  • The weapon stab can make contact separately from the gravity effect. That actual weapon hit uses your weapon setup and can apply its status buildup; the surrounding magic does not inherit bleed, poison, rot or grease from the blade.
  • Pulling enemies close is useful when you have a follow-up ready, but dangerous if the cast ends with several enemies beside you. It does not guarantee a free hit against every target.
  • Shard of Alexander boosts the skill's damage. It cannot be charged and gets no Godfrey Icon bonus. Meteorite Staff's gravity-sorcery bonus does not strengthen this weapon skill.
  • The beach Alabaster Lord awards the transferable Ash. You do not need an Intelligence requirement to equip the Ash itself or a staff to use it; meet the chosen weapon's requirements instead.
  • Compatible weapon classes: Straight Sword, Greatsword, Colossal Sword, Curved Sword, Curved Greatsword, Katana, Twinblade, Thrusting Sword, Heavy Thrusting Sword, Axe, Greataxe, Hammer, Great Hammer, Flail, Spear, Great Spear, Halberd, Reaper, Colossal Weapon, Thrusting Shield, Backhand Blade, Light Greatsword, Great Katana. A weapon with a fixed skill cannot use this Ash of War.
  • Its default affinity is Magic. The supported choices are Standard, Heavy, Keen, Quality, Magic and Cold; the appropriate whetblade is needed for additional options.
