About this Ash of War
Costs 6 FP for the opening spin and another 12 FP for the follow-up, for 18 FP if you complete both parts. Press skill again to continue.
The sequence changes with weapon type. Smaller blades use a quicker spin, heavier swords and axes use a slower version, and twinblades have their own animation.
These are weapon hits, so the weapon's attack power, affinity and status buildup matter. A longer weapon also reaches farther during the sweep.

Where to find
Bernahl's shop at Warmaster's Shack
Stormhill
Starting Site of Grace: Warmaster's Shack
Before you go
- Have 1,200 runes.
- Visit during the day.
- From Gatefront, follow the road uphill through Stormgate to Stormhill Shack. Turn east along the road through the woods to Warmaster's Shack.
- Speak to Knight Bernahl inside during the day, open his skill shop and buy Spinning Slash for 1,200 runes. His shop has one copy.
- If Bernahl has moved to Volcano Manor, use his drawing-room shop. Once he leaves the manor, examine the sword at his chair for the established shop.
- If you already have Bernahl's Bell Bearing, give it to the Twin Maiden Husks to buy his remaining stock. Killing him is unnecessary and cuts off his later quest rewards.
Notes
- Costs 6 FP for the opening spin and another 12 FP for the follow-up, for 18 FP if you complete both parts. Press skill again to continue.
- The sequence changes with weapon type. Smaller blades use a quicker spin, heavier swords and axes use a slower version, and twinblades have their own animation.
- These are weapon hits, so the weapon's attack power, affinity and status buildup matter. A longer weapon also reaches farther during the sweep.
- The repeated contacts can work well with bleed or other buildup already on the weapon. They do not add a new status effect by themselves.
- Commit to the follow-up when the opening is long enough. Starting the spin does not make you invulnerable to attacks from the rest of a group.
- Dragon Halberd has a distinct version that gives its lightning and frost effects. This transferable Ash does not grant that enchantment.
- Shard of Alexander improves the skill's damage. Repeated-hit bonuses can also help when enough hits connect to activate them.
- Can use this Ash of War on compatible equipment in these classes: Dagger, Straight Sword, Greatsword, Curved Sword, Curved Greatsword, Katana, Twinblade, Axe, Greataxe, Spear, Great Spear, Halberd, Reaper, Throwing Blade, Backhand Blade, Light Greatsword, Great Katana. Fixed-skill equipment is excluded.
- The default affinity is Keen. Additional affinities depend on the weapon and your whetblades; a class appearing in the compatibility list does not mean every weapon in that class supports every affinity.
