About this Ash of War
Costs 16 FP for the forward charge and finishing thrust. Hold the input to cover more distance and add running contacts before the finish.
The short version has one running contact before the thrust; the fully held version can produce four before the finish. Moving past the target or clipping a wall can prevent the full sequence from connecting.
The weapon contacts use the weapon's attack power and Pierce physical damage. Their attribute scaling follows its affinity rather than a separate fixed Quality projectile.

Where to find
Scarab beneath a broken bridge north of Fallen Ruins
Liurnia of the Lakes
Starting Site of Grace: Fallen Ruins of the Lake
- From Fallen Ruins of the Lake, ride north through the shallow water toward the broken stone bridge with three arches.
- Look beneath the arches for the scarab hanging above the Land Squirts. Bring a bow, throwing item or ranged spell.
- Use manual aim if lock-on will not reach it. Shoot it down, then finish it before it escapes.
- Keep clear of the poison clouds beneath the bridge while collecting the reward.
Notes
- Costs 16 FP for the forward charge and finishing thrust. Hold the input to cover more distance and add running contacts before the finish.
- The short version has one running contact before the thrust; the fully held version can produce four before the finish. Moving past the target or clipping a wall can prevent the full sequence from connecting.
- The weapon contacts use the weapon's attack power and Pierce physical damage. Their attribute scaling follows its affinity rather than a separate fixed Quality projectile.
- Godfrey Icon increases the fully held finishing attack's damage by 15% against enemies. The early running contacts do not all gain that charged-finisher bonus.
- Shard of Alexander increases skill damage, and Spear Talisman helps eligible physical counter hits. These damage bonuses do not automatically multiply the weapon's status buildup.
- Holding it spends more stamina and carries you farther. It does not grab the enemy or make charging toward a cliff safe.
- Golem's Halberd has a built-in version even though the transferable Ash cannot be fitted to that colossal weapon class. Native skills and transferable compatibility are separate rules.
- Shoot the hanging scarab under the broken three-arched bridge north of Fallen Ruins of the Lake. The Land Squirts beneath it are hazards, not the reward targets.
- Compatible weapon classes: Twinblade, Heavy Thrusting Sword, Spear, Great Spear, Halberd, Thrusting Shield. A weapon with a fixed skill cannot use this Ash of War.
- Its default affinity is Quality. The supported choices are Standard, Heavy, Keen, Quality, Fire, Flame Art, Lightning, Sacred, Magic, Cold, Poison, Blood and Occult; the appropriate whetblade is needed for additional options.
