About this Ash of War
Hold the skill to sheath the katana, then use a normal attack for the horizontal cut or a strong attack for the downward slash. Holding the stance costs no FP; the attacks cost 10 and 15 FP respectively.
The light follow-up deals 15 enemy stance damage, while the strong follow-up deals 30. Stance damage helps create a critical opening; it is separate from the HP damage shown by a hit.
Both cuts use the weapon's attack power and the attributes supported by its affinity. They do not gain a separate Intelligence-scaled beam like Moonveil's Transient Moonlight.

In-game description
This Ash of War grants an armament the Keen affinity and the following skill:
"Unsheathe: Skill of swordsmen from the Land of Reeds. Sheathe blade, holding it at the hip in a composed stance. Follow up with a normal or strong attack to perform a swift slash attack."
Usable on katana.
Where to find
Southeastern corner of Agheel Lake
Limgrave
Starting Site of Grace: Agheel Lake South
- From The First Step in Limgrave, follow the southern shore of Agheel Lake east toward the road climbing beside the lake. Activate Agheel Lake South before descending into its southeastern shallows.
- Reach Agheel Lake South, beside the road south of Limgrave's large lake.
- Ride north into the shallow water and search the lake's southeastern corner for a scarab rolling a pale ball.
- Approach carefully, since giant crabs emerge from the water nearby. Kill the scarab quickly, or use a ranged attack to avoid being surrounded.
- The kill awards Unsheathe. Flying Dragon Agheel does not need to be defeated.
Notes
- Hold the skill to sheath the katana, then use a normal attack for the horizontal cut or a strong attack for the downward slash. Holding the stance costs no FP; the attacks cost 10 and 15 FP respectively.
- The light follow-up deals 15 enemy stance damage, while the strong follow-up deals 30. Stance damage helps create a critical opening; it is separate from the HP damage shown by a hit.
- Both cuts use the weapon's attack power and the attributes supported by its affinity. They do not gain a separate Intelligence-scaled beam like Moonveil's Transient Moonlight.
- Both attacks apply the weapon's full ordinary status buildup once. A stronger damage multiplier does not multiply a katana's bleed by the same amount.
- Rellana's Cameo increases the follow-up damage by 45% after the stance is held for at least one second. Shard of Alexander adds 15%; together they give 66.75% more damage before other effects.
- Holding the stance is not charging the attack for Godfrey Icon. That talisman and the ordinary charged-heavy bonus from Axe Talisman do not boost this skill.
- Uchigatana and Nagakiba already have Unsheathe as their native skill. The transferable copy lets a compatible katana keep Unsheathe while changing affinity.
- The nearby giant crabs and Flying Dragon Agheel are not the reward targets. Defeat the southeastern lake scarab to receive the separate Ash.
- Compatible weapon classes: Katana. A weapon with a fixed skill cannot use this Ash of War.
- Its default affinity is Keen. The supported choices are Standard, Heavy, Keen, Quality, Fire, Flame Art, Lightning, Sacred, Magic, Cold, Poison, Blood and Occult; the appropriate whetblade is needed for additional options.
