About this Ash of War

Costs seven FP for four successive thrusts. The sequence commits you to a narrow line, so it works best when the target has stopped moving sideways.

Damage uses the weapon's attack power and affinity, with Pierce physical damage. Spear Talisman helps eligible counter hits made while the target is attacking.

The first and last hits apply 100% of the weapon's ordinary status buildup; the two middle hits apply 50% each. Landing all four therefore gives three normal hits' worth of buildup, rather than four.

Where to find

Night's Cavalry at the Agheel river bridge

Limgrave

Starting Site of Grace: Agheel Lake North

Before you go

  • Fight the bridge rider at night.
  1. From Agheel Lake North, follow the road southeast to the stone bridge over the river.
  2. Pass time until night at the grace, then return to the bridge and find the Night's Cavalry.
  3. Defeat the rider for Repeating Thrust. The nearby scarab awards Determination instead.
  4. If the rider is absent after a death, wait until night again.

Notes

  • Costs seven FP for four successive thrusts. The sequence commits you to a narrow line, so it works best when the target has stopped moving sideways.
  • Damage uses the weapon's attack power and affinity, with Pierce physical damage. Spear Talisman helps eligible counter hits made while the target is attacking.
  • The first and last hits apply 100% of the weapon's ordinary status buildup; the two middle hits apply 50% each. Landing all four therefore gives three normal hits' worth of buildup, rather than four.
  • For a weapon with 50 bleed buildup, that is 150 total before other modifiers and status decay, provided all contacts land. The skill does not add innate bleed to a weapon that has none.
  • Blood Tax uses a similar four-thrust sequence but costs 14 FP and heals on contact. Repeating Thrust has no built-in healing and is not boosted by Ansbach's Blood Oath clothing bonus.
  • The repeated hits help activate consecutive-hit effects. Shard of Alexander also boosts skill damage; Godfrey Icon does not apply because this sequence is uncharged.
  • Rogier's Rapier has Repeating Thrust underneath its fitted Glintblade Phalanx Ash. That does not supply a removable Repeating Thrust copy; defeat the Limgrave bridge rider at night for this Ash.
  • Compatible weapon classes: Dagger, Straight Sword, Greatsword, Katana, Twinblade, Thrusting Sword, Heavy Thrusting Sword, Spear, Great Spear, Halberd, Thrusting Shield, Throwing Blade, Light Greatsword, Great Katana. A weapon with a fixed skill cannot use this Ash of War.
  • Its default affinity is Keen. The supported choices are Standard, Heavy, Keen, Quality, Fire, Flame Art, Lightning, Sacred, Magic, Cold, Poison, Blood and Occult; the appropriate whetblade is needed for additional options.
