About this Ash of War
Costs 10 FP to start and 6 FP for each chained follow-up. Press skill again to keep firing while you have FP and stamina.
The wind deals physical damage. Its scaling uses Strength, Dexterity, weapon upgrade level and affinity, separately from the sword's ordinary attack power.
Heavy favors Strength for the projectile and Keen favors Dexterity; Quality supports both. An Intelligence, Faith or Arcane affinity does not turn those attributes into the wind's damage stats.

Where to find
Bernahl's shop at Warmaster's Shack
Stormhill
Starting Site of Grace: Warmaster's Shack
Before you go
- Have 1,800 runes.
- Visit during the day.
- From Gatefront, follow the road uphill through Stormgate to Stormhill Shack. Turn east along the road through the woods to Warmaster's Shack.
- Speak to Knight Bernahl inside during the day, open his skill shop and buy Storm Blade for 1,800 runes. His shop has one copy.
- If Bernahl has moved to Volcano Manor, use his drawing-room shop. Once he leaves the manor, examine the sword at his chair for the established shop.
- If you already have Bernahl's Bell Bearing, give it to the Twin Maiden Husks to buy his remaining stock. Killing him is unnecessary and cuts off his later quest rewards.
Notes
- Costs 10 FP to start and 6 FP for each chained follow-up. Press skill again to keep firing while you have FP and stamina.
- The wind deals physical damage. Its scaling uses Strength, Dexterity, weapon upgrade level and affinity, separately from the sword's ordinary attack power.
- Heavy favors Strength for the projectile and Keen favors Dexterity; Quality supports both. An Intelligence, Faith or Arcane affinity does not turn those attributes into the wind's damage stats.
- At close range, the sword and wind can both connect. The sword contact uses the weapon's damage, status buildup and eligible enchantments; the distant wind does not carry the weapon's bleed or grease damage.
- Two-handing does not give the separate wind projectile the usual effective Strength increase. Do not assume it gains the same benefit as an ordinary two-handed swing.
- Shard of Alexander boosts skill damage. Enraged Divine Beast and the storm-boosting Divine Beast headpieces can also strengthen the storm attack.
- It needs no ammunition or spell catalyst. With insufficient FP, the wind is not fired even though a weaker weapon animation can still occur.
- Can use this Ash of War on compatible equipment in these classes: Dagger, Straight Sword, Greatsword, Curved Sword, Curved Greatsword, Katana, Thrusting Sword, Heavy Thrusting Sword, Throwing Blade, Light Greatsword, Great Katana. Fixed-skill equipment is excluded.
- The default affinity is Quality. Additional affinities depend on the weapon and your whetblades; a class appearing in the compatibility list does not mean every weapon in that class supports every affinity.
