About this Ash of War
For 40 seconds, raises the weapon's physical attack power by 7.5% and improves its Strength scaling. The extra scaling is not five Strength added to your character and cannot be used to meet equipment requirements.
Changes eligible heavy and charged-heavy attacks into aggressive combinations. Their shape and commitment depend on the weapon class; choosing Heavy affinity is not what creates the roar moveset.
The physical increase does not raise every elemental part of a split-damage weapon. The extra Strength scaling is more useful where your Strength investment can contribute.

Where to find
Scarab north of Ravine-Veiled Village
Liurnia of the Lakes
Starting Site of Grace: Ravine-Veiled Village
- From Liurnia's lake, ride north past the academy into the narrowing ravine at the lake's northern end. Stay on the water-level route to Ravine-Veiled Village, rather than climbing to Bellum Highway.
- Ride north along Liurnia's lake into the narrow ravine leading toward the Ruin-Strewn Precipice. Activate Ravine-Veiled Village beneath the wooden platforms.
- Continue north along the water instead of climbing into the village. Look for the scarab beside the rocks.
- Kill it before it retreats deeper into the rocks. Its escape path can draw several bats into the fight, so clear space before chasing.
- The scarab awards the transferable Ash. A weapon that already has Barbaric Roar does not necessarily provide a removable copy.
Notes
- For 40 seconds, raises the weapon's physical attack power by 7.5% and improves its Strength scaling. The extra scaling is not five Strength added to your character and cannot be used to meet equipment requirements.
- Changes eligible heavy and charged-heavy attacks into aggressive combinations. Their shape and commitment depend on the weapon class; choosing Heavy affinity is not what creates the roar moveset.
- The physical increase does not raise every elemental part of a split-damage weapon. The extra Strength scaling is more useful where your Strength investment can contribute.
- Roar Medallion and an active Highland Axe improve attacks changed by the roar. Axe Talisman can also help the fully charged heavy attacks.
- Shard of Alexander does not strengthen the buff percentages merely because a skill applied them. The changed ordinary heavy attacks are not a new damaging projectile skill.
- This occupies the weapon-buff slot. Grease, a weapon enchantment or another incompatible coating replaces it; a separate body buff and aura can coexist.
- Costs 16 FP for its normal effect. Without enough FP, the fallback buff lasts only six seconds, so an empty-FP roar is not another full 40-second application.
- The scarab is on the water-level ravine route north of Ravine-Veiled Village. Climbing the village ladders toward Makar takes you away from it.
- Compatible weapon classes: Straight Sword, Greatsword, Colossal Sword, Curved Sword, Curved Greatsword, Katana, Twinblade, Axe, Greataxe, Hammer, Great Hammer, Flail, Spear, Great Spear, Halberd, Reaper, Fist, Claw, Colossal Weapon, Hand-to-Hand, Light Greatsword, Great Katana, Beast Claw. A weapon with a fixed skill cannot use this Ash of War.
- Its default affinity is Heavy. The supported choices are Standard, Heavy, Keen, Quality, Fire, Flame Art, Lightning, Sacred, Magic, Cold, Poison, Blood and Occult; the appropriate whetblade is needed for additional options.
