About this Ash of War
For 60 seconds, raises the buffed weapon's physical attack power by 10%, reduces damage you take by 10% and adds 10 stamina recovery per second.
The stamina recovery is a flat rate increase, not ten Endurance or 10% more maximum stamina. The protection covers physical and elemental damage and combines with other reductions by multiplication.
Two-hand an eligible weapon to use its altered heavy attacks. Their forward movement and longer commitment are different from simply keeping the original heavy swing with extra damage.

Where to find
Blackguard Boggart's Iron Ball
Liurnia of the Lakes
Starting Site of Grace: Boilprawn Shack
Before you go
- Obtain the Iron Ball from Boggart's death.
- At Scenic Isle in southern Liurnia, head east toward the stone gazebo near the telescope. Speak to Rya about her stolen necklace before entering Volcano Manor, which ends this early meeting.
- Ride northwest across the shallow lake to Boilprawn Shack. Talk to Boggart beside the cooking pot, ask for the necklace and choose Deal to open the purchase.
- Buy Rya's Necklace for 1,000 runes. Buying it keeps Boggart alive and opens his prawn shop; purchase at least one Boiled Prawn if you want his later move and crab stock.
- If preserving Boggart's food shop and quest, buy at least one Boiled Prawn and finish his conversation. He later moves to the outer moat north of Leyndell and opens his Boiled Crab stock.
- The Ash is attached to Iron Ball, which is obtained from Boggart's death. You can choose to kill him, or continue the Dung Eater's moat sequence until Boggart dies there. Either outcome ends his living quest for the journey.
- Collect Iron Ball and Boggart's other drops. Open Ashes of War at a grace and remove or transfer Braggart's Roar from the weapon.
- His bell bearing preserves eligible unlocked shop stock, rather than giving the Ash itself. If you want renewable Boiled Crab through the bearing, buy a crab after he moves before allowing his death.
Notes
- For 60 seconds, raises the buffed weapon's physical attack power by 10%, reduces damage you take by 10% and adds 10 stamina recovery per second.
- The stamina recovery is a flat rate increase, not ten Endurance or 10% more maximum stamina. The protection covers physical and elemental damage and combines with other reductions by multiplication.
- Two-hand an eligible weapon to use its altered heavy attacks. Their forward movement and longer commitment are different from simply keeping the original heavy swing with extra damage.
- Roar Medallion and an active Highland Axe improve the altered heavy attacks. Fully charged versions can also benefit from Axe Talisman.
- The physical attack increase belongs to the buffed weapon. Your unrelated other-hand weapon does not receive that same weapon attack-power increase.
- This is a weapon buff. Another incompatible coating or weapon enchantment replaces it. Shard of Alexander does not turn its fixed attack, protection or stamina bonuses into larger percentages.
- Costs 16 FP normally. With insufficient FP, the fallback lasts six seconds and is weaker: 7.5% physical attack power, 5% damage reduction and 7 extra stamina recovery per second.
- The transferable Ash comes attached to Boggart's Iron Ball. Removing the Ash does not consume the fist weapon, and obtaining only his bell bearing does not supply the skill.
- Boggart's death ends his living quest. You can finish his necklace and food-shop business first instead of killing him early just to obtain a roar.
- Compatible weapon classes: Straight Sword, Greatsword, Colossal Sword, Curved Sword, Curved Greatsword, Katana, Twinblade, Axe, Greataxe, Hammer, Great Hammer, Flail, Spear, Great Spear, Halberd, Reaper, Fist, Claw, Colossal Weapon, Hand-to-Hand, Light Greatsword, Great Katana, Beast Claw. A weapon with a fixed skill cannot use this Ash of War.
- Its default affinity is Heavy. The supported choices are Standard, Heavy, Keen, Quality, Fire, Flame Art, Lightning, Sacred, Magic, Cold, Poison, Blood and Occult; the appropriate whetblade is needed for additional options.
