About this Ash of War

Costs 5 FP for the opening tumble and another 5 FP for each repeated tumble. Additional skill inputs continue the roll, using stamina as well as FP, so leave enough to stop and dodge afterward.

The electrified contact deals physical and lightning damage. Both portions of this skill improve with Dexterity and weapon reinforcement. Faith does not strengthen it as though it were a lightning incantation.

The rolling attack is calculated separately from your ordinary weapon damage. It does not carry the weapon's blood loss, poison or other status buildup. A lightning-damage bonus improves the lightning portion, rather than automatically boosting the physical part too.

Where to find

Scarab near the sword monument east of Stormcaller Church

Altus Plateau

Starting Site of Grace: Rampartside Path

  1. Reach Rampartside Path on Altus Plateau and ride southwest toward the hill near Stormcaller Church.
  2. Look for the monument formed from swords embedded in the ground, southeast of Sainted Hero's Grave.
  3. Search around the monument for the scarab and kill it for Lightning Ram. The ordinary rolling sheep are not the reward enemy.
  4. The scarab is near the sword monument east of Stormcaller Church. The lightning-covered sheep nearby show the idea behind the skill, but killing sheep does not award the Ash.

Notes

  • Costs 5 FP for the opening tumble and another 5 FP for each repeated tumble. Additional skill inputs continue the roll, using stamina as well as FP, so leave enough to stop and dodge afterward.
  • The electrified contact deals physical and lightning damage. Both portions of this skill improve with Dexterity and weapon reinforcement. Faith does not strengthen it as though it were a lightning incantation.
  • The rolling attack is calculated separately from your ordinary weapon damage. It does not carry the weapon's blood loss, poison or other status buildup. A lightning-damage bonus improves the lightning portion, rather than automatically boosting the physical part too.
  • The bleat and preparation can be interrupted before you start moving. Once rolling, this is still an attack rather than an invulnerable dodge. Enemies can damage you, and terrain or a wall can stop you making useful contact.
  • You can keep rolling into a large or stationary enemy if the opening allows it, but chasing a moving target can waste several FP payments. Stop if the target has moved away or you are approaching a drop.
  • Shard of Alexander improves the damaging skill. Godfrey Icon gives no bonus because repeating the tumble is not charging it. Gravel Stone Seal's incantation bonus does not apply.
  • Compatible weapon classes: Dagger, Straight Sword, Greatsword, Colossal Sword, Curved Sword, Curved Greatsword, Katana, Twinblade, Thrusting Sword, Heavy Thrusting Sword, Axe, Greataxe, Hammer, Great Hammer, Flail, Spear, Great Spear, Halberd, Reaper, Fist, Claw, Whip, Colossal Weapon, Hand-to-Hand, Thrusting Shield, Throwing Blade, Backhand Blade, Light Greatsword, Great Katana, Beast Claw. A weapon with a fixed skill cannot use this Ash of War.
  • Its default affinity is Lightning. The supported choices are Standard, Heavy, Keen, Quality, Lightning and Sacred; the appropriate whetblade is needed for additional options.
