About this item

Use the Spectral Steed Whistle to summon and ride your spectral steed.

If your spectral steed dies, you can summon it again, but it will cost one Flask of Crimson Tears to do so.

You can dismount by using the whistle again or by pressing <?keyicon@0009?>.

Melina's Spectral Steed Whistle introduction

Limgrave

Starting Site of Grace: Gatefront

1. Leave the Stranded Graveyard and follow the road north past the Church of Elleh to Gatefront Ruins.
2. Activate and rest at Gatefront grace beside Stormgate. Speak to Melina when she appears and accept her accord.
3. She gives you the Spectral Steed Whistle. Put it in a pouch or quick-item slot and use it outdoors to call Torrent.
4. Receiving the whistle introduces horseback riding and saves this explanation.

Notes

• Put the Spectral Steed Whistle in a pouch or quick-item slot, then use it outdoors where riding is allowed. Use it again or the dismount control to get off Torrent.
• Torrent can double jump, but a second jump does not reset the distance of a fatal fall. Look for a safe route down or a spiritspring instead of trying to save a long fall at the last moment.
• Torrent has his own health. Raisins can restore it, and a dead Torrent can require one Crimson Flask charge to summon again. Read the confirmation before spending the charge.
• Riding is disabled in many interiors and during ordinary multiplayer. The whistle does not override those restrictions.
• Receiving the whistle also unlocks this explanation. The tutorial itself is not the item used to summon Torrent.
