Learn or buy a spell, then rest at a grace and choose Memorize spell. Owning it is not enough; it needs space in your available memory slots.
Sorceries normally need a staff, while incantations need a sacred seal. Equip the appropriate catalyst, select the memorized spell and use that hand's casting control.
Meet the spell's requirements as well as the catalyst's requirements. Sorceries often need Intelligence and incantations often need Faith, but individual spells can require other attributes too.

Starting Site of Grace: Stranded Graveyard
Before you go
- For the selected early route, start as Astrologer or Prophet with its usable spell and catalyst.
- From Stranded Graveyard, approach the seated ghost beside the hole before the large exit lift. Drop into the hole and activate Cave of Knowledge grace.
- Start as Astrologer or Prophet for a usable memorized spell and matching catalyst, then follow the practice path to the conditional casting introduction. A character without casting equipment may pass through without that prompt.
- Continue through the Soldier of Godrick encounter to return to the upper graveyard. The Info tab keeps the tutorial available to read afterward.

- For a straightforward early casting lesson, start as Astrologer or Prophet with a memorized spell and its matching catalyst. The introductory casting prompt is conditional and may not appear for a character that cannot cast.
