About this item
Strong attacks, charged strong attacks, jumping attacks and guard counters can break an enemy's stance. Damage to its HP bar and damage to its stance are different things.
Keep pressure on the enemy when it is safe. Long gaps give it time to recover stance, even if the HP damage you dealt remains.
A stance break can leave an opening for a critical hit. Move to the exposed critical point and use a light attack; repeatedly pressing strong attack may miss that opportunity.

Where to find
Cave of Knowledge
Limgrave
Starting Site of Grace: Stranded Graveyard
- From Stranded Graveyard, approach the seated ghost beside the hole before the large exit lift. Drop into the hole and activate Cave of Knowledge grace.
- Follow the practice path through the enemies and read the introduction to stance-breaking when it appears. This explanation is awarded automatically, rather than picked up from a corpse.
- Continue through the Soldier of Godrick encounter to return to the upper graveyard. The Info tab keeps the tutorial available to read afterward.

- Some enemies react differently or have no normal critical animation. A stagger does not guarantee the same follow-up against every target.
