In-game description

In each area, you may find effigies of martyrs.

These effigies are summoning pools.

You'll find it easy to summon other players at these locations, as co-op and hostile summoning signs created with small effigies gather at summoning pools.

Where to find

First summoning pool east of The First Step

Limgrave

Starting Site of Grace: The First Step

  1. Take the Stranded Graveyard exit lift and open the doors into Limgrave. Activate The First Step grace outside.
  2. Walk east from the grace and descend the short ledge to the small summoning-pool statue. Examine it and collect Small Golden Effigy.
  3. This is a convenient first pickup, not the only one. If you already passed it, the tool can be collected once from another summoning pool.
  4. The introduction is awarded with the first relevant multiplayer tool. Read it again from the inventory's Info tab.

Notes

  • Examine a summoning pool to activate it, then use Small Golden Effigy to offer a cooperative sign to eligible activated pools. You do not have to wait beside every statue.
  • Use the summoning-pool settings in the map functions menu to enable or disable individual pools. Activated pools carry into the next journey.
  • Near-and-far searches with Small Golden Effigy exclude Mohgwyn Palace pools. To offer help there, travel inside the palace area and select Nearby Only.
  • A host still needs to see and choose your sign. Activation does not automatically summon a helper or start a multiplayer session.
  • These statues collect multiplayer signs. A Stake of Marika is a separate checkpoint that can offer a closer respawn after death.
