About this item

The quivering message tells you a Deathroot is nearby. It does not mark the exact corpse, chest or boss, and it is not a consumable that must be activated.

Gurranq gives it with the first Deathroot reward, alongside Clawmark Seal. Keep it in your inventory; it needs no weapon slot or memory slot.

There are nine Deathroots to offer. The first root does not unlock every reward at once, and the eye itself is not traded away for a second reward.

Where to find

Gurranq in Bestial Sanctum

Caelid

Starting Site of Grace: Bestial Sanctum

  1. Obtain a Deathroot, such as the reward for defeating the Tibia Mariner in Summonwater Village in northeastern Limgrave.
  2. Speak to D about the Deathroot if you want his marked route. The sending gate behind the Third Church of Marika takes you to Bestial Sanctum.
  3. Enter the sanctum and give Gurranq your first Deathroot to receive the Beast Eye along with his first rewards.

Notes

  • The quivering message tells you a Deathroot is nearby. It does not mark the exact corpse, chest or boss, and it is not a consumable that must be activated.
  • Gurranq gives it with the first Deathroot reward, alongside Clawmark Seal. Keep it in your inventory; it needs no weapon slot or memory slot.
  • There are nine Deathroots to offer. The first root does not unlock every reward at once, and the eye itself is not traded away for a second reward.
  • After the fourth offering, Gurranq becomes hostile on a later visit. Lower his health until he yields, stop attacking and finish the encounter without killing him if you want the remaining rewards.
  • His final ninth offering rewards an Ancient Dragon Smithing Stone. Killing him early sacrifices the remaining Deathroot progression rather than acting as a shortcut to all of his spells.
  • Neither the Black Blade Kindred outside Bestial Sanctum nor the Dragonbarrow dragons are required to speak to him. The sending gate behind Third Church of Marika provides an early entrance.
