In-game description
Knight Bernahl's bell bearing, found upon his perished flesh.
Offer to the Twin Maiden Husks at the Roundtable Hold to gain access to new items.
Where to find
Knight Bernahl at Warmaster's Shack
Limgrave
Starting Site of Grace: Warmaster's Shack
Before you go
- Bernahl must still be at the shack.
- This route kills Bernahl and ends his later joint quest.
- From Stormhill Shack in northern Limgrave, follow the road east into the woods to Warmaster's Shack. Visit during daylight to find Knight Bernahl inside; the nighttime Bell Bearing Hunter is a different enemy.
- Killing Bernahl here gives his weapon and armor early, but prevents his later Manor assignment, Raging Wolf outfit and Gelmir's Fury reward. Keep him alive and use the later invasion if you want those rewards.
- If you choose the early kill, defeat Bernahl and collect his bell bearing with Devourer's Scepter and the Beast Champion equipment. This ends his later personal quest.
- For the later two Ashes of War, keep the bearing until you have joined Volcano Manor and received the Drawing-Room Key. Then offer it to the Twin Maiden Husks at Roundtable Hold and open Bernahl's transferred shop.
Notes
- Offer it to the Twin Maiden Husks at Roundtable Hold to buy Bernahl's remaining Ashes of War. Each entry has one copy; transferring the shop does not refill an Ash you already bought.
- The starting stock includes Impaling Thrust for 1,000 runes, Spinning Slash for 1,200, Quickstep for 800 and Stamp (Upward Cut) for 1,500.
- The other starting Ashes are Kick and War Cry for 800 each, Endure, Parry and No Skill for 600 each, and Storm Blade for 1,800.
- Eruption costs 8,000 runes and Assassin's Gambit costs 6,500. For these later additions, obtain the Drawing-Room Key by joining Volcano Manor before handing over an early bearing. Joining the manor does not undo the consequences of killing Bernahl.
- Killing him at Warmaster's Shack ends his later joint Leyndell hunt and its Raging Wolf outfit and Gelmir's Fury rewards. Buying his skills while keeping him alive preserves that quest.
- His later Farum Azula invasion is a different encounter and does not provide this early bearing. When he leaves Volcano Manor, the sword on his chair can continue to sell his remaining stock without an early kill.
- The nighttime Bell Bearing Hunter at Warmaster's Shack drops Bone Peddler's Bell Bearing, not Bernahl's. Visit in daylight to identify the merchant correctly.
- This NPC bearing and its transferred shop do not carry into the next Journey. It is not one of the smithing- or glovewort-bearings that preserve their unlocks.
