Starting Site of Grace: Deathtouched Catacombs
From Saintsbridge in northern Limgrave, follow the road west uphill. Before the roadside camp, take the slope on your right to the higher cliffside ledge.
Look for the double doors with a seated spirit beside them. Open the doors, go inside Deathtouched Catacombs and activate the grace.
Descend toward the sealed boss door, then take the stairs to the left into the skeleton rooms. Hit fallen skeletons again while they begin glowing to stop them reassembling.
Continue through the wider main rooms into the lower chamber with skeleton archers. Follow the passage to the statue and lever at the western end.
Pull the lever to open the sealed entrance boss door. Retrace the main route up the stairs to that door rather than staying in the small side passages.
Enter the boss room and defeat the Black Knife Assassin, who starts this encounter with some health already missing.

Notes
The direct reward is Assassin’s Crimson Dagger. Deathroot is in the chest behind the arena, so remember to open it after the fight.
The missing starting health is part of this encounter. It does not mean you found a different phase or need to heal the boss before the reward works.
A Lantern helps you follow her movement in the dark room without tying up your hand with a torch.
The sideways dash often links into another dagger attack. Wait for the next thrust or slash instead of assuming the dash ends the combination.
The attack that drags the knife along the ground before sweeping upward has a clearer recovery than the quick opening cuts. Use that opening for a controlled attack or a heal.
A fast attack can interrupt the assassin, but a long string of swings risks running out of stamina while she escapes. Keep enough stamina to respond when she turns back.
