About this item

On the Night of the Black Knives, someone stole a fragment of Death from Maliketh, the Black Blade, and imbued its power into the assassins' daggers.

This mark is evidence of the ritual, and hides the truth of the conspiracy.

Hidden Black Knife Assassin in Black Knife Catacombs

Liurnia of the Lakes

Starting Site of Grace: Black Knife Catacombs

1. Find Black Knife Catacombs at the northeastern end of Liurnia's eastern road, beyond the Uld Palace Ruins. A Mausoleum Knight guards the entrance; you can get inside without defeating him.
2. From the grace, pass the locked main boss door and follow the corridor to the room with falling guillotine blades.
3. Wait for the middle blade to strike the floor, then step onto it and ride it upward. Jump from it onto the raised doorway ledge.
4. Follow the upper passage, dealing with the skeletons and their controlling caster. At the apparent dead end, do not drop through the hole on your right.
5. Strike the wall directly ahead to reveal the hidden passage and a separate boss fog. D's summon sign may be available here if he is alive.
6. Defeat the Black Knife Assassin behind this fog to receive the talisman and the Black Knifeprint. The Cemetery Shade behind the dungeon's main boss door is a different fight and does not award this talisman.

Notes

• The hidden Black Knife Assassin awards this with Assassin's Cerulean Dagger. Cemetery Shade is the other boss in the same catacombs and gives different rewards; defeating only the main boss does not obtain the print.
• Fia's Knifeprint Clue points toward the dungeon but is optional. You can ride the guillotine blade, reveal the false wall and defeat the hidden assassin without first receiving the sketch.
• Give it to Rogier on Roundtable Hold's balcony while his investigation dialogue remains available. Rest or reload after he takes it, then speak to him again for his findings.
• If you want to follow his investigation in order, finish this conversation before entering Ranni's service. Progressing her quest can move Rogier toward his final sleeping state before you hear all his investigation dialogue.
• The print is evidence for a conversation, not an equippable dagger or a combat buff. It does not add a Black Knife skill to your weapon.
• It is separate from Cursemark of Death at Divine Tower of Liurnia. Fia needs that later cursemark for her dream-related quest; this knifeprint does not replace it.
