Before you go

To enter the Realm of Shadow, defeat Starscourge Radahn and Mohg, Lord of Blood, then touch the withered arm in Mohg's arena at Mohgwyn Palace.
Access the Realm of Shadow.

From the first Gravesite Plain grace, ride northwest to the small stone mausoleum built against the cliff. Descend its stairs and enter the boss room.
Defeat the Blackgaol Knight to receive Greatsword of Solitude and the Solitude armor set. Spirit Ashes cannot be summoned for this encounter.

Victory awards Greatsword of Solitude and the Solitude armor set.
Spirit Ashes cannot be summoned here. The fight is optional, so you can gather Scadutree Fragments and return.
Move sideways when the crossbow volley begins. Trying to dodge each bolt individually can leave you inside the next one.
The sword’s ranged wave can be followed by a closing strike. Keep watching after avoiding the projectile.
A two-handed sword attack may continue through a light interruption attempt. Wait for a finished sequence before committing.
The mausoleum is northwest of Gravesite Plain grace. It is not an evergaol opened with a Stonesword Key.
