Blackguard Big Boggart

Blackguard Big Boggart begins as Rya’s necklace thief and becomes a useful food merchant. Buying from him preserves his story, but freeing Dung Eater can put him in danger at the capital moat.

Starting Site of Grace: Boilprawn Shack

  1. At Scenic Isle in southern Liurnia, head east toward the stone gazebo near the telescope. Speak to Rya about her stolen necklace before entering Volcano Manor, which ends this early meeting.
  2. Ride northwest across the shallow lake to Boilprawn Shack. Talk to Boggart beside the cooking pot, ask for the necklace and choose Deal to open the purchase.
  3. Buy Rya's Necklace for 1,000 runes. Buying it keeps Boggart alive and opens his prawn shop; purchase at least one Boiled Prawn if you want his later move and crab stock.

When available: After buying prawn and reaching Altus.

Starting Site of Grace: Outer Wall Battleground

  1. Reach Altus Plateau using Dectus or Ruin-Strewn Precipice. Follow the highway toward Leyndell and its outer walls, then reach the moat on the northern side of the capital.
  2. Find Boggart's cooking camp west of Capital Rampart, outside the walls. This is the ground-level outer moat, rather than a passage through the city.

Quest steps

Quest steps can include different outcomes. Read the branch, conditions and cutoffs before making a choice.

  1. Open the food shop

    Branch: Main quest

    Meet Rya at the gazebo before entering Volcano Manor. Ask Boggart for the necklace and buy it. Then buy at least one Boiled Prawn and finish his dialogue to become friendly.

  2. Follow his move

    Branch: Main quest

    After reaching Altus, find him at the outer moat west of Capital Rampart. Speak and purchase Boiled Crab if you want that stock preserved by his eventual bearing.

  3. Keep him safe

    Branch: Preserve Boggart

    The simplest way to preserve his life is to leave Dung Eater imprisoned or kill Dung Eater’s physical body before freeing him. If pursuing Dung Eater’s quest, delay buying the first prawn until after the moat invasion so Boggart has not moved into danger.

  4. Dung Eater’s victim

    Branch: Dung Eater

    If Boggart is at the moat when that quest advances, finish his warnings and reload. Speak when he is tied to the chair, defeat Dung Eater’s invasion and collect Boggart’s final drops.

Notes

  • Entering Volcano Manor before the Rya necklace introduction can prevent this friendly shop route. Do the gazebo and shack meetings first.
  • His gold summon can assist against Magma Wyrm Makar after befriending him. Summoning him is optional.
  • You do not need his death for the Fell Curse rune if you collect the other five Seedbed Curses.
  • Buying the necklace and buying the first prawn are separate progression steps.
  • If preserving him while pursuing the puppet, keep him at the shack until after the moat invasion. There is no need to use hostility or absolution as a workaround.
