Castellan Edgar

Edgar is Castle Morne’s castellan and Irina’s father. Deliver her letter, help resolve the castle battle and follow him back to the road before his later revenge encounter.

Locations and access

Castle Morne upper wall

Weeping Peninsula · Castle tower

When available: Meet and deliver the letter before Leonine Misbegotten.

Starting Site of Grace: Castle Morne Lift

  1. Follow the main road south through Weeping Peninsula to Castle Morne. Pass the archer golem on the approach, enter the gatehouse and activate Castle Morne Lift grace.
  2. Ride the lift into the courtyard. Keep past the burning corpse pile toward the Pumpkin Head at the far end, then turn right to the ladder around the corner.
  3. Climb to the battlements and follow the walkway with the winged Misbegotten. Look left for the ladder down to the lower wall; do not continue dropping toward Behind the Castle yet.
  4. Follow the lower walkway past the soldiers fighting Misbegotten, then climb the stairs at its end. Edgar is sitting on the tower above.

Road south of Bridge of Sacrifice

Weeping Peninsula · Irina’s roadside seat

When available: After finishing his castle duty.

Starting Site of Grace: Bridge of Sacrifice

  1. After Leonine, return to Edgar at his tower and finish his new conversation.
  2. Travel back to the Bridge of Sacrifice and follow the road a short distance south to Irina’s seat. Speak to Edgar beside her body.

Shack north of the western Minor Erdtree

Liurnia of the Lakes · Revenger’s Shack

When available: Later hostile stage of the same character.

Starting Site of Grace: Revenger’s Shack

  1. Travel along western Liurnia to the wooded area north of its western Minor Erdtree.
  2. Approach Revenger’s Shack after the roadside scene. Edgar now invades as Edgar the Revenger.

Quest steps

Quest steps can include different outcomes. Read the branch, conditions and cutoffs before making a choice.

  1. Deliver Irina’s Letter

    Branch: Main quest

    Speak to Edgar on the tower until the letter handover appears. He first gives you a Sacrificial Twig, then explains why he cannot leave.

  2. Defeat Leonine

    Branch: Main quest

    Continue down through the rear castle route to the beach and defeat Leonine Misbegotten. Edgar’s summon sign can help once his conversation is complete, but summoning him is optional.

  3. Release him from duty

    Branch: Main quest

    Return to his tower after victory and finish the dialogue about the recovered sword. Then visit Irina’s original seat and speak again.

  4. Face the revenger

    Branch: Main quest

    Continue to Revenger’s Shack in western Liurnia and defeat his invasion. Collect the Shabriri Grape and Banished Knight’s Halberd +8.

Notes

  • Edgar and Edgar the Revenger are the same character at different stages. The later invasion is not another castle commander.
  • Grafted Blade Greatsword comes from Leonine Misbegotten. Delivering a letter does not award that weapon directly.
  • Finish the post-boss tower conversation before looking for him at Irina’s body. A missed conversation can leave him at the castle.
  • His upgraded halberd affects the highest weapon-upgrade level you have acquired for matchmaking, even if you did not reinforce it yourself.
  • Killing him early ends his friendly conversations. Follow the letter route if you want the full story rather than only a weapon drop.
