Chief Bloodfiend

The Chief waits past the cave’s Bloodfiend gathering, mixing heavy sweeps with blood attacks and lunges.

Starting Site of Grace: Rivermouth Cave

  1. From Castle Front, ride south to the crossroads, turn east and follow the road to the next fork. Take the right-hand dirt track, then the left fork downhill toward the southeast.
  2. Pass the bloodfiends and descend into the shallow poison area. Follow the lower path down toward the river rather than climbing toward the fort; watch for militia and poison traps along the descent.
  3. At the bottom is a shallow pool with a giant crab. Turn southwest into the opening in the cliff, continue through the cave past the Revered Spirit Ash chamber and activate Ellac River Cave grace.
  4. Leave onto the river and head north upstream. Look for Rivermouth Cave in the western cliff near the northern end, separate from the cave behind the waterfall.
  5. Inside, clear the wolves and take the left passage at the first fork. The right branch is a short loot detour.
  6. Continue through the wolf chambers, using the left approach around the stone arch to avoid being surrounded.
  7. Climb the rubble beyond the stone arch and drop toward the item below. The floor gives way under you, dropping you into a tunnel with a stream of blood.
  8. Follow the blood tunnel to the ledge above the large Bloodfiend gathering. Descend the dirt slope and take the boss passage to the right of their altar. You can draw the enemies out a few at a time instead of fighting the entire crowd.
  9. Defeat Chief Bloodfiend to receive the ashes. This is the cave's boss reward, not the nearby Two-Headed Turtle pickup.

Notes

  • Defeat the Chief for Bloodfiend Hexer’s Ashes. The nearby Two-Headed Turtle Talisman is a separate outdoor pickup.
  • The cave entrance is on the northern Ellac River’s western cliff. The waterfall cave is a different destination.
  • The floor collapse drops you into the blood stream leading toward the final chambers. Prepare before approaching the item on that weak floor.
  • Use the side passage beside the gathering’s altar to reach the boss. You can draw the ordinary Bloodfiends out rather than fighting the whole crowd at once.
  • Move around the Chief’s side after a completed swing to avoid the forward blood breath. Do not stay directly ahead while starting a long cast.
  • His lunge can close space quickly. Keep enough stamina to respond when he switches from a wide sweep to forward pressure.
