The cave’s final chamber contains a spear knight and a sickle knight, with rot making the floor harder to use.

Cleanrot Knights (Abandoned Cave)

Abandoned Cave dual Cleanrot Knight boss

Starting Site of Grace: Abandoned Cave

  1. From Smoldering Wall in Caelid, head east through the dead trees to the ravine. Look across for the cave opening in the opposite cliff, above the bottom of the chasm.
  2. Cross the large dead branch spanning the gap, keeping to its center, then enter Abandoned Cave and activate the grace. The Abductor Virgin outside does not need to be defeated.
  3. Bring a light and Scarlet Rot treatment. Drop into the first rot pool after a bubbling geyser erupts, turn left and move to the dry ground beside the inactive Abductor Virgin.
  4. Take the left passage past the summoning pool. The right branch beside the inactive machine is a separate dead end with Dragonwound Grease.
  5. At the next ledge, move right before dropping into the second rot chamber. A mushroom-covered enemy waits beside the right-hand tunnel.
  6. Take that right-hand tunnel onto dry ground. Continue past the rats and the next mushroom-covered enemy, then through the smaller rat room into the large chamber with the giant Miranda flower.
  7. For the boss route, keep right and climb the slope toward the two mushroom-covered enemies on the raised side. Follow the tunnel behind them to the fog door. The western wreckage ledge contains a separate weapon.
  8. Defeat both Cleanrot Knights to receive Gold Scarab. Keep out of the rot crossing their arena and avoid letting the spear knight pin you down while the sickle knight attacks from range.

Notes

  • Defeat both knights for Gold Scarab. Serpent Bow and Venomous Fang are separate cave pickups.
  • The spear knight can catch you with a glowing impale. Watch its approach even when you are trying to reach the ranged opponent.
  • The sickle knight can send attacks across the room. Keep both opponents on screen rather than fighting the spear knight with your back to the caster.
  • Use dry ground for healing and recovery. Rolling through the cave’s rot can leave buildup continuing after you step out.
  • Cross the dead branch from the Smoldering Wall side to reach the entrance. Dropping into the bottom of the ravine is not the route into this cave.
  • A Spirit Ash can help divide attention, but do not assume an enemy looking at the summon cannot hit you with a wide swing.
