Deathbird (Clifftop ruins northwest of Castle Morne)
A Deathbird descends onto these ruins at night. This is the ordinary skeletal bird, rather than the larger ghostflame-wielding Death Rite Bird.

Deathbird (Clifftop ruins northwest of Castle Morne)
Deathbird beside the coastal end of the wall north of Castle Morne
Starting Site of Grace: Castle Morne Rampart
Before you go
Visit at night.
From Agheel Lake South, follow the southern road over Bridge of Sacrifice and continue through the Weeping Peninsula to Castle Morne Rampart grace, beside the roadside merchant.
Rest and pass time until nightfall. Follow the road south through the broken wall toward Castle Morne, then turn right and climb the rocky slope toward the western, coastal end of that wall.
Approach the fallen stone ruins on the cliff above the castle approach. The Deathbird appears here at night. If you die and return during daylight, pass time until night again.
Defeat the Deathbird to receive Sacrificial Axe automatically. Holy damage is useful against it. The distant archer golem can hit the bird, but its arrows can hit you too, so do not rely on them as protection.

Notes
The direct reward is Sacrificial Axe. It comes from this Deathbird, not the Death Rite Birds that use ghostflame.
Pass time until night at Castle Morne Rampart, then approach the ruins on the western cliff above the castle road.
The archer golem below can interfere with the fight. Its arrows can hit you too, so keep watching their direction rather than treating them as free protection.
Holy damage and effects made specifically for Those Who Live in Death are useful here. Sacred Blade and Holy Water Pots are options even before you have a high-Faith spell setup.
Keep clear of the beak when you are directly under its head. Close range avoids some wide swings, but is not a safe place to stand still.
Its short screech can build Death Blight, and its grab punishes standing at an awkward middle distance. Leave the screech’s immediate area instead of continuing a long attack through it.
A moving head can pull the lock-on camera around. Change your lock point or briefly unlock if the camera makes it harder to see the ground and the next swing.
