In-game description
Dragon heart seized by a dragon tracker.
Riddled with Gravel Stone, this grotesque organ continues to beat vivaciously.
An offering used in the Dragon Communion. Consume a dragon's heart at the altar to make its power yours.
While a terrible and savage-looking thing, the heart has a peculiar beauty to it.
Where to find
Flying Dragon Agheel in Agheel Lake
Limgrave
Starting Site of Grace: Agheel Lake North
- From Agheel Lake North, ride south into the shallow lake. Approach the burning gathering north of Dragon-Burnt Ruins to bring Flying Dragon Agheel down, then defeat him. The ordinary Dragonfire purchase does not require this particular dragon.
- From Summonwater Village in northeastern Limgrave, follow the main road east into Caelid. Stay on the highway as it curves south around the Swamp of Aeonia toward Caelid Highway South.
- Leave the southern road toward the ruined church on the hill south of the swamp. Decaying Ekzykes is near the approach; pass around the dragon if your chosen purchase does not require its defeat.
- Enter Cathedral of Dragon Communion and activate its grace. A Banished Knight patrols the ruins, so clear the immediate area before trying the altar.
- Interact with the red altar and choose the Dragon Communion menu. The price is paid in Dragon Hearts, rather than runes, and purchasing a spell is separate from equipping it at a grace.
- Defeat Flying Dragon Agheel for one Dragon Heart. Spending it at an altar is a separate choice; defeating Agheel also unlocks his named incantation at the cathedral.
Elder Dragon Greyoll near Fort Faroth
Dragonbarrow
Starting Site of Grace: Fort Faroth
- Reach Fort Faroth on Dragonbarrow's high eastern plateau.
- Find the immense stationary dragon west of the fort and defeat Greyoll or the smaller dragons tied to her encounter.
- Greyoll's defeat awards five hearts.
Magma Wyrm inside Dragon's Pit
Jagged Peak
Starting Site of Grace: Dragon's Pit
- From Castle Front, follow the road southeast toward Pillar Path Waypoint. At the fork, use the lower road toward Igon rather than climbing to the Suppressing Pillar.
- Continue south-southwest past the broken dragon statues. An Ancient Dragon-Man invades along this approach. The cave entrance is on the left near the end of the path, marked by a fire.
- Activate Dragon's Pit grace and follow the lit passage down. Watch for skeletons below the first ledge and around the next corner. Strike their glowing remains after knocking them down to stop them getting back up.
- In the large cavern with the pillars, follow the left-hand ledge down and take the passage beside the distant crossbow skeleton. Continue onto the sloping stairs in the next chamber.
- Take the downward route toward the large altar and pit. The stairs going up lead to an optional Magma Wyrm; that fight is not needed to reach the exit.
- Take the upward stairs into the optional Magma Wyrm chamber. Defeat this wyrm for a Dragon Heart and an Ancient Dragon Smithing Stone. Ancient Dragon-Man at the deep pit is a different encounter.
Notes
- Spend ordinary hearts at Dragon Communion altars. The Cathedral of Dragon Communion in southern Caelid offers more choices than Limgrave's island church.
- Many named dragons and Magma Wyrms award hearts, while ordinary lesser dragons do not all provide them. The listed fights are individual options.
- Some incantations require defeating their associated named dragon before they appear for purchase.
- Bayle's heart is a separate item with a different altar exchange.
- The heart is spent on the purchase; you still need a sacred seal and the spell's Faith and Arcane requirements to cast the incantation.
- At an altar, use the communion menu to buy an unlocked incantation. This consumes the required hearts and does not equip or memorize the spell automatically.
- Dragon Communion Seal is a separate casting tool. Owning it does not unlock every altar purchase, and a different sacred seal can still cast an incantation once you meet its requirements.
- Greyoll gives five hearts, while many ordinary named dragon rewards give one. Heart quantities vary by encounter rather than every dragon giving the same amount.
- The Magma Wyrm in Dragon’s Pit is optional and gives a heart. Ancient Dragon-Man is the required exit boss and has a different reward; the two should not be confused.
- Ordinary hearts cannot purchase Bayle’s two incantations. Heart of Bayle is its own unique quest reward, and duplicating a remembrance does not duplicate either kind of heart.
- Dragon Communion progression can change your character’s eye appearance. The cosmetic change does not increase spell damage or replace the incantations’ attribute requirements.
