Dung Eater
Dung Eater appears as a red figure at Roundtable Hold while his physical body is imprisoned beneath Leyndell. His story branches into a cursed ending rune, a puppet or an early execution.
After reaching Altus, check the room beyond Twin Maiden Husks. Carry a Seedbed Curse to make the red figure discuss his prison and give you its key.
Cell beyond the poison-flower tunnel
Subterranean Shunning-Grounds · Sewer cell
Starting Site of Grace: Underground Roadside
Before you go
Sewer-Gaol Key from his Roundtable appearance.
In Leyndell, Royal Capital, start at Avenue Balcony. Descend the northwestern stairs and go through the door. Follow the railing west, then drop left onto the lower rooftops.
Drop off the right side of the roof, turn back north and find the well behind the broken wall. Climb its ladder, open the gate in the lower passage and take the next ladder down.
Follow the damp corridor northeast into the rat-filled sewer entrance. Go through the southeastern doorway and descend the ladder into the large Omen hallway.
Head northeast along the hallway and enter the first room on the left, opposite the summoning statue. Activate Underground Roadside grace.
Leave Underground Roadside and turn left into the main Omen hallway. Pass the Omen to the open floor grate and drop into the rat tunnel.
Turn left and follow the tunnel past the rats. Continue into the passage with the large poison flowers, rather than turning into the side pipe used for the deeper sewer route. Climb the ladder at the far end.
Watch for the Fingercreepers in the upper chamber. The Dung Eater's locked cell is on the right; open it with the Sewer-Gaol Key.
Outer moat north of Leyndell
Capital Outskirts · Moat invasion
When available: After freeing his physical body.
Starting Site of Grace: Outer Wall Battleground
After releasing him and reading his Roundtable message, descend into the outer moat west of Capital Rampart. Watch for the giant crab as well as the red invasion.
Quest steps
Quest steps can include different outcomes. Read the branch, conditions and cutoffs before making a choice.
Show the curse
Branch: Main quest
Collect the Seedbed Curse from the chair in the upper room reached from East Capital Rampart’s lower lift route. Show it to his Roundtable figure for Sewer-Gaol Key.
Choose before releasing him
Branch: Early execution
Open the sewer cell. Killing the physical prisoner now stops his murders and gives his equipment, but ends the rune and puppet routes.
Release and confront
Branch: Main quest
Tell him to leave his gaol, read the message in his Roundtable room and defeat his outer-moat invasion. If Boggart has moved there, this sequence threatens his life. Return to the Roundtable figure and finish talking.
Give five curses
Branch: Fell Curse
Return to the physical body, now bound to the chair. Give five Seedbed Curses total to obtain Mending Rune of the Fell Curse.
Progression cutoff: Collect the two normal Royal Capital curses before Maliketh if you intend to use them.
Use the remaining pickups
Branch: Fell Curse
There are six curses: two in the Royal Capital, one in Volcano Manor, two in Elphael and the optional Boggart victim curse. You can finish without Boggart’s death if you collect the five fixed pickups.
Make the puppet instead
Branch: Puppet
Before giving all five curses, give the bound body Seluvis’s Potion and let his reaction finish. Discover Seluvis’s hidden workshop and arrange the puppet shop before handing Ranni the Fingerslayer Blade. Buy Dung Eater Puppet for five Starlight Shards.
Progression cutoff: Giving all five curses or killing the body before administering the potion closes this branch.
Collect armor on the puppet branch
Branch: Puppet
After administering the potion and letting the reaction finish, you can kill the body before reloading to collect Omen Set as well. Killing him before the potion takes effect prevents the puppet.
Rewards and conditions
Reward or service
Condition
Details
Sewer-Gaol Key
Show the Roundtable figure a Seedbed Curse.
This opens his physical prison.
Sword of Milos
Defeat his outer-moat invasion, or kill his physical body.
The invasion victory alone does not finish the five-curse story.
Mending Rune of the Fell Curse
Give five Seedbed Curses to his bound body.
Enables the Blessing of Despair ending when selected after the final bosses, unless the Frenzied Flame locks your ending.
Dung Eater Puppet
Administer the potion and purchase the unlocked puppet.
This is an alternative to the rune during the same journey.
Omen Set
Collect from his physical body after death or the completed rune handover.
Reload and revisit the cell after collecting the rune if necessary.
Notes
His red Roundtable figure, moat invasion and sewer body are linked appearances. Killing the invader does not kill the prisoner.
The first curse shown at Roundtable remains part of the five you can later hand over.
Seluvis’s Potion is the puppet item. Tonic of Forgetfulness does not substitute for it.
The puppet route must be arranged while Seluvis’s quest services remain available.
The ending is chosen at Fractured Marika after the final bosses. A rune in your inventory simply keeps that option available.
Do not tell a player that Boggart must die. His curse is the sixth option, not an unavoidable requirement.
