About this cookbook

A record of crafting techniques left by the Fire Knights, who served Messmer the Impaler. Details the art of wielding fire for the benefit of soldiers setting out to join the crusade.

Acquire the knowledge to craft the following:

- Messmerfire Grease - Drawstring Messmerfire Grease

Army camp west of Moorth Ruins

Scadu Altus

Starting Site of Grace: Moorth Ruins

1. From Moorth Ruins grace, cross the road to the west.
2. Enter the small army camp and check inside the tents, keeping an eye on the soldiers.
3. Loot the corpse in the tent for the book. You do not need to descend into the ruins.

Notes

• Unlocks Messmerfire Grease and Drawstring Messmerfire Grease.
• The book unlocks its recipes without being equipped or consumed. You also need the Crafting Kit from Kalé at the Church of Elleh to use Item Crafting.
• You keep the book and its recipes in later Journeys. Its number identifies the contents rather than a required collection order.
• Messmerfire Grease: each craft makes 1, using 1 Knot Resin and 1 Black Pyrefly.
• Drawstring Messmerfire Grease: each craft makes 1, using 1 Knot Resin, 1 Black Pyrefly, and 1 String.
• Both use Knot Resin and Black Pyreflies. The drawstring version also needs String. Apply them to a compatible weapon with an affinity that allows weapon buffs.
• This unlocks consumable coatings, separate from the Firespark Perfume Bottle found in the same camp. The bottle is a weapon and does not provide an empty crafting container for grease.
