This painter is said to have captured the landscapes seen during the last moments of those welcomed into death's embrace.

The soul of the painter, and vestiges of the dead's last moments can be discovered by visiting the location depicted even now.

Before you go

• Collect before defeating Maliketh, while Fortified Manor remains accessible.

1. For the original capital route, enter Leyndell after obtaining two Great Runes and visiting the Two Fingers. From Avenue Balcony, descend toward the greatbow knight, climb the enormous stone dragon wing and continue up to West Capital Rampart.
2. From West Capital Rampart, use the southeastern doorway and descend the stairs toward the lower western courtyard. Drop onto the courtyard ground beside Fortified Manor rather than climbing the enormous root toward the sanctuary.
3. Enter the manor's ground-floor doorway, go through the door on the right and turn left into the dining area. Take the doorway at the far right of that room.
4. Activate Fortified Manor, First Floor grace and examine Flightless Bird beside it. This is downstairs in the manor, separate from the upper room resembling Roundtable Hold.

Notes

• Solving Flightless Bird rewards Fire's Deadly Sin, a Faith incantation. The painting itself is a clue, rather than a spell you can equip.
• Examine the original easel first. Merely seeing it in the room or visiting the solution area beforehand does not activate its reward.
• Find the painter's viewpoint, rather than trying to stand at the distant landmark shown in the picture. Approach the seated spirit, wait for it to fade and collect the glowing item left behind.
• Collect the manor painting before defeating Maliketh. Fortified Manor is lost when Leyndell becomes the Ashen Capital; reaching Altus or defeating Fire Giant alone does not remove it.
• Reach Altus Plateau through Dectus or Ruin-Strewn Precipice, then follow the northern road toward Forest-Spanning Greatbridge. Use the sending gate to its northern end and continue northeast toward the windmills.
• Activate Windmill Village at Dominula and climb the main path through the celebrating villagers. Continue to the upper windmills and the Godskin Apostle's arena.
• For a nearby resting point, defeat the Apostle and activate Windmill Heights. Follow the cliff south and southeast behind the small square house beyond the upper village.
• Approach the painter overlooking the land below and collect Fire's Deadly Sin. Collecting the spell does not require meeting its casting requirement first.
