About this item
The warning hints at throwing fire into a Furnace Golem's open basket. Hefty Furnace Pots are especially effective for this approach; the whirlwind wording points to that recipe.
Armored legs prevent the usual leg-stagger approach. Look for nearby high ground where a throw can reach the open basket, rather than repeatedly attacking the metal-covered feet.
Hefty Fire Pots and Hefty Furnace Pots are different recipes. Both need their own cookbook and materials; this note does not unlock either craft.

In-game description
A note left presumably by a furnace keeper, containing admonitions regarding the furnace's proper use.
"Keep fire pots well clear when the golem's furnace is ablaze—and never let me catch you with pots that produce flaming whirlwinds, for goodness' sake."
Where to find
Tent east of Shadow Keep's main gate
Scadu Altus
Starting Site of Grace: Shadow Keep Main Gate
- From Highroad Cross in Scadu Altus, follow the main road north toward Shadow Keep. Pass the military camps, keeping clear of the Furnace Golem if you are only collecting the note.
- At Shadow Keep's main gate, remain outside and follow the outer wall east. Search the tent beside the wall among the abandoned golem remains.
- Loot Furnace Keeper's Note inside the tent. The Golden Hippopotamus beyond the main gate and Messmer deeper in the keep are unnecessary for this pickup.
Notes
- The warning hints at throwing fire into a Furnace Golem's open basket. Hefty Furnace Pots are especially effective for this approach; the whirlwind wording points to that recipe.
- Armored legs prevent the usual leg-stagger approach. Look for nearby high ground where a throw can reach the open basket, rather than repeatedly attacking the metal-covered feet.
- Hefty Fire Pots and Hefty Furnace Pots are different recipes. Both need their own cookbook and materials; this note does not unlock either craft.
- The basket must actually be hit. A throw striking the outer body or falling short does not provide the same result just because it was a fire item.
- Approaching Shadow Keep triggers the great-rune and charm-breaking story event. That can advance companion dialogue and quest choices even if you are only visiting the outside tent.
- Read it in the inventory's Info tab. It does not need to be equipped to provide its clue.
