About this crafting material
Two Gas Stones and three Redflesh Mushrooms make one Hefty Volcano Pot, using an available Hefty Cracked Pot. Greater Potentate's Cookbook (13) unlocks that recipe.
This is a different material from Volcanic Stone. The ordinary Volcano Pot recipe uses Volcanic Stone and cannot substitute Gas Stone just because both descriptions mention hot gas.
Living Magma in the ruined forges can drop more, with a 4% base chance at 100 Item Discovery. The enemy supply is renewable; individual fixed bundles remain collected.

In-game description
Block of stone infused with hot gas. Material used for crafting items.
Found in the ruined forges.
Perhaps these were once used as fuel for the smithing process.
Where to find
Slag heaps inside Ruined Forge Lava Intake
Gravesite Plain
Starting Site of Grace: Ruined Forge Lava Intake
- From Castle Front, follow the southeastern downhill route into the plain with the ruined stone columns. Find the hole in the cliff between two torches and activate Ruined Forge Lava Intake inside.
- Follow the entrance path past the ghost and climb down the first ladder to the ledge above the lava and suspended pipe.
- Continue past the side room with the stone golem. Watch the ceiling as you go down the stairs, since lava blobs drop onto the path.
- Continue to the ladder in the next large chamber and climb down. Check the small dead end directly behind its base for two Gas Stones.
- Face back into the chamber and climb the right-hand stairs. Turn right into the side alcove for another Gas Stone pickup beside the cookbook corpse.
- The lava, pipe lever and final altar are farther on. You can collect these materials without crossing the lava.

- Defeat the living lava blobs along the walkways and check their drops for Gas Stone. Watch the ceiling so a second blob does not fall on you while looting.
- Return to the entrance grace and rest to reset these enemies. Fixed pickups on the floor are separate from their random drops.

- Ruined Forge Lava Intake has reachable pickups and suitable enemies near its entrance. You do not need to finish the pipe puzzle or cross the lava to begin collecting.
- The hanging lava blobs can drop onto the walkway. Clear them before standing beneath a ceiling to inspect a material pickup.
- The stones are consumed during crafting. The Hefty Cracked Pot returns to your available containers after the finished pot is used.
- The material does not inflict damage directly and cannot reinforce a weapon. Smithing Stones and this crafting ingredient serve different purposes.
