Defeat Margit and continue up the approach to Stormveil Main Gate grace.
Face the closed gate and enter the small room on its left. Speak to Gostoc about the gate or the cliffside path.
Godrick’s arena
Stormveil Castle · After Godrick
When available: Before he moves into the throne room.
Starting Site of Grace: Godrick the Grafted
After defeating Godrick, return to the boss arena and speak to Gostoc beside the remains.
Finish his conversation to reopen his shop.
Rear of the throne room
Stormveil Castle · Throne-room shop
When available: After Nepheli’s ruler route completes, if Gostoc is alive.
Starting Site of Grace: Godrick the Grafted
Travel to Godrick the Grafted grace after completing the required conversations and defeating Morgott.
Rest at the grace, then walk through the northern doorway into Stormveil’s throne room. If the characters have not moved, finish their remaining dialogue and rest again rather than only selecting fast travel.
Quest steps
Quest steps can include different outcomes. Read the branch, conditions and cutoffs before making a choice.
Choose an entrance
Branch: Main quest
The main entrance opens if you insist on it; Gostoc recommends the cliffside path. Opening the gate does not prevent taking the side route instead.
Get through the locked room
Branch: Main quest
On the side route, the dark room with a Banished Knight can lock behind you. Defeat or evade the knight, take the Rusty Key and use the room’s door to continue.
Return for his shop
Branch: Main quest
Speak again as you explore the castle. After Godrick, finish his conversation in the arena to use his merchant stock.
Keep him for the later purchase
Branch: Main quest
Leave him alive and complete Nepheli’s throne-room route. Visit him behind her in the throne room for the additional Ancient Dragon Smithing Stone.

Details
Grace Mimic
Find him during his stalking appearances and speak.
This small gift is separate from his normal shop stock.
Ancient Dragon Smithing Stone
Buy from his expanded throne-room shop after Nepheli’s conclusion.
It costs 20,000 runes and has one available purchase.
Gostoc’s Bell Bearing
Dropped if he dies.
Transfers his eligible shop stock, but killing him early prevents the later throne-room stone unlock.
Notes
While he stalks you in Stormveil, Gostoc takes a share of runes left after your deaths. The smaller recovered amount is part of this behavior.
The cliffside route avoids the main gate’s concentrated defenses. It still contains dangerous enemies and the locked knight room.
The Rusty Key opens the route onward inside Stormveil. It is not an Imbued Sword Key for a sending gate.
Leaving Gostoc alive preserves the later stone purchase. Killing him for his bearing is not necessary to use the main gate or finish Stormveil.
His extra stone and Nepheli’s free stone are two different rewards at the shared conclusion.
