About this spellbook

Prayerbook bound in supple skin.

Incantations of the god-slaying black flame are written within.

Can be given to a learned cleric to gain access to the following incantations:

- Black Flame

- Black Flame Blade

Sealed cellar off the main courtyard

Stormveil Castle

Starting Site of Grace: Liftside Chamber

Before you go

• Reach Stormveil's courtyard.
• Bring one Stonesword Key if the cellar seal is unopened.

1. Follow Stormveil's side route to the large courtyard filled with soldiers, then activate Liftside Chamber so you have a nearby return point.
2. From the courtyard, search its southern side for the stairs into the cellar. If you entered through the main gate, this entrance is on your left.
3. Go down and clear the rats before using the imp statue beside the fog barrier.
4. Spend one Stonesword Key to open the room. Open both chests inside; one holds Godskin Prayerbook and the other holds the Godslayer's Seal.

Notes

• Unlocks Black Flame and Black Flame Blade for purchase.
• Give the prayerbook to Brother Corhyn or Miriel. Corhyn starts at Roundtable Hold and moves during his quest, so check where you last met him.
• Miriel stays at the Church of Vows on the raised ground in eastern Liurnia. From the Artist's Shack, follow the road north and take the uphill branch toward the church.
• Handing over the book opens new shop stock. Choose Purchase and spend runes on the spells; they are not learned for free or equipped automatically.
• Spells you have bought carry into later journeys. The book and its teaching unlock do not, so buy the spells you want before starting another journey.
• Black Flame costs 7,500 runes and Black Flame Blade costs 6,000 runes after the book is handed in.
• The Godslayer's Seal is a separate chest reward in the same room. Picking it up does not teach the incantations.
• Godrick does not need to be defeated for this pickup. The book is in the courtyard cellar before his arena.
• If the teacher later dies, their bell bearing can preserve spells already unlocked in that shop. The Twin Maiden Husks cannot receive a new scroll or prayerbook through a bearing.
• Black Flame needs 20 Faith; Black Flame Blade needs 17 Faith.
• Black Flame throws a fireball; Black Flame Blade briefly enchants a compatible right-hand weapon. Their lingering black flame continues draining health after contact, so they are not just ordinary fire attacks with a different color.
• Grease and another weapon enchantment cannot be layered onto Black Flame Blade. Use a weapon and affinity that allow buffs, then apply it close to the attack you want to make.
