About this crafting material
Used in Fetid Pots and Roped Fetid Pots. Each spends one Gold-Tinged Excrement and one Toxic Mushroom; the roped version also spends String.
Both recipes use a Cracked Pot and are unlocked by Nomadic Warrior's Cookbook (4). The container is reusable after throwing the finished pot, while the ingredients are spent.
Fetid Pots can build Poison on you as well as the target. The material's golden color does not turn the result into a Holy-damage item.

In-game description
Someone's excrement. It has a golden tinge.
Material used for crafting items.
Often hidden in woods and thickets.
Gold-tinged excrement is a highly stable substance; it doesn't dry out, nor does it lose its customary warmth or scent. For better or for worse, it remains as it is.
Where to find
Bear pond and thickets in Mistwood
Limgrave
Starting Site of Grace: Mistwood Outskirts
- From Gatefront, follow the eastern road across the Limgrave bridge and continue toward Mistwood Outskirts on the forest's western edge.
- From Mistwood Outskirts, head east and look south toward the shallow pond with bears nearby.
- Search the corpse pickups beside the pond for a bundle of five Gold-Tinged Excrement. The nearby bodies also hold runes and Throwing Daggers, so check the item name as you loot.
- Check the surrounding forest-floor pickups as you continue toward Mistwood Ruins.
- Keep away from sleeping Runebears unless you are ready to fight them.
Runebears in Mistwood
Limgrave
Starting Site of Grace: Mistwood Outskirts
- Enter Mistwood east and south of Mistwood Outskirts. Look for the huge Runebears, including the one scratching a tree near the forest ruins.
- Defeat a Runebear and check its drops, then rest at a nearby grace to reset the enemy. Fighting on open ground is safer than getting trapped among the trees.
- This is a renewable option after the fixed corpse bundles are gone. Ordinary small bears and every other forest creature should not be treated as guaranteed drops.
Notes
- Used in Fetid Pots and Roped Fetid Pots. Each spends one Gold-Tinged Excrement and one Toxic Mushroom; the roped version also spends String.
- Both recipes use a Cracked Pot and are unlocked by Nomadic Warrior's Cookbook (4). The container is reusable after throwing the finished pot, while the ingredients are spent.
- Fetid Pots can build Poison on you as well as the target. The material's golden color does not turn the result into a Holy-damage item.
- Runebears and suitable Wormfaces can drop it. Their relevant drop chance is 25% at 100 Item Discovery, rather than a guaranteed reward from every kill.
- These enemy drops provide a renewable alternative to fixed corpse bundles. Item Discovery improves eligible drops, rather than refilling the bodies beside the Mistwood pond.
- Blood-Tainted Excrement and Horn-Strewn Excrement have different recipes and cannot replace this ingredient. The larger Hefty Fetid Pot uses the horn-strewn variety.
- The material cannot be used directly as a throwing item. Craft the pot first, outside combat, if you want its effect.
