In-game description

A small clump of sharp, pointed stones.

Material used for crafting items.

Such compound stones, found in lands once beset by ancient dragons, are said to be the scales of those very beasts.

Where to find

Dragon remains across Dragonbarrow

Caelid

Starting Site of Grace: Dragonbarrow West

  1. From northern Caelid, follow the road east past the minor Erdtree area into Dragonbarrow and activate Dragonbarrow West beside the road. The landscape rises onto the higher northern plateau.
  2. Explore the dragon remains and rocky ground east toward the enormous motionless Greyoll near Fort Faroth. Gather the glowing Gravel Stone pickups around the remains, keeping clear of the smaller living dragons.
  3. Collect only what you can reach safely and return to the grace. Greyoll, the smaller dragons and the fort's enemies are not required for these ground pickups.
  4. The world stones are finite for the journey. Resting does not refill them; the Farum Azula dragon below provides a separate renewable supply.

Respawning dragon south of Dragon Temple Lift

Crumbling Farum Azula

Starting Site of Grace: Dragon Temple Lift

Before you go

  • Two Stonesword Keys
  • Reach Crumbling Farum Azula
  1. After reaching Crumbling Farum Azula, progress to Dragon Temple and defeat the Godskin Duo. Leave through Dragon Temple Altar into the ruins lined with dragon statues.
  2. Climb the stairs along the outer wall to the imp-sealed lift. Spend two Stonesword Keys, ride up and activate Dragon Temple Lift grace.
  3. Leave the lift building and head southeast into the ruined courtyard with Beastman skeletons and the golden sapling. Finish fallen skeletons before stopping to heal.
  4. Continue south and down beyond the skeleton courtyard to the sleeping Ancient Dragon on the lower platform. This is below the nearby Alexander route, separate from the wounded dragon past Dragon Temple Rooftop.
  5. Defeat the sleeping dragon and collect its three Gravel Stones. Return to Dragon Temple Lift and rest to bring this particular dragon back for another run.
  6. The first descending Farum dragon and the wounded rooftop-route dragon are different encounters. Do not use their one-time rewards as evidence that every Farum dragon resets.

Notes

  • Dragonwound Grease needs one Gravel Stone, one Root Resin and one Beast Blood. Ancient Dragonbolt Pot needs one Gravel Stone, two Mushrooms and one Fulgurbloom.
  • The grease and throwing pot have different recipe books. The pot also needs a Ritual Pot, which becomes available again after use; the stone is spent in either recipe.
  • World stones around dragon remains are finite for the journey. Resting does not refill the gathered clusters.
  • The sleeping Ancient Dragon below the skeleton courtyard south of Dragon Temple Lift respawns and guarantees three Gravel Stones per defeat. It is separate from Farum Azula's one-time dragon encounters.
  • The imp seal costs two Stonesword Keys once to open that lift. It does not charge another pair for each farming run.
  • Eligible lightning-casting Azula Beastmen can also drop Gravel Stone. Those are random drops rather than the sleeping dragon's guaranteed three.
  • Gravel Stone and Sharp Gravel Stone are different materials. The latter belongs to the expansion's Dragon Communion recipes and cannot replace the former in these two crafts.
