A record of crafting techniques of the greater potentate who roamed lands near and far. Haunted by the grotesque practice of his village of birth, he stuffed great pots with all manner of things.

Before you go

• Reach Scadu Altus.

1. From Highroad Cross in Scadu Altus, go west toward the water and waygate. Follow the water's northern edge, then continue west to Scadu Altus, West grace on the cliff overlooking Fog Rift Fort.
2. Look immediately northwest below the grace for the rock ledges leading to the fort's tower. Drop onto each visible ledge and then the tower, rather than jumping directly into the ravine.
3. Follow the rampart past the spearmen and through the room with two waiting soldiers. Keep away from the explosive barrels while they attack; a ranged Fire attack can set off barrels from a safer distance.
4. Beyond that room, deal with the soldier facing away on the right. Look down to the narrow wooden bridge and take the stairs toward it. Draw the bridge soldiers up to the rampart if the firebombs make the crossing unsafe.
5. Cross the wooden bridge to the small cliff and loot the corpse at its far end for Greater Potentate's Cookbook (3). This bridge is separate from the higher stone bridge toward Black Knight Garrew. Fighting Garrew is unnecessary for the book.

Notes

• Unlocks Hefty Oil Pot. One craft makes one pot from three Whiteflesh Mushrooms and three Dewgems, using an empty Hefty Cracked Pot.
• The oil makes the next Fire hit deal 65% more Fire damage, or expires after 30 seconds if no Fire hit consumes it. The pot does not deal the Fire attack itself, so follow it with a separate Fire weapon hit, spell or item.
• This oil does not stack with ordinary Oil Pot, Roped Oil Pot or Oil-Soaked Tear. They apply competing oil effects, so repeated different oil throws do not multiply together.
• Ordinary Cracked Pots and Ritual Pots cannot hold this hefty recipe. Throwing a finished Hefty Oil Pot frees its container, but does not return the three mushrooms or three Dewgems.
• Collecting the book unlocks the recipe without equipping or consuming it. You also need the Crafting Kit from Kale. The recipe stays unlocked in later Journeys, and the other numbered volumes are not required first.
• The book is across the wooden bridge before the stone bridge toward Garrew. Clearing the knight or descending into the flail courtyard is unnecessary for this pickup.
