Locations and access

Northern sanctum hall

Greyoll’s Dragonbarrow · Bestial Sanctum

Starting Site of Grace: Bestial Sanctum

  1. To reach Gurranq early, find the waygate in the bushes behind the Third Church of Marika in eastern Limgrave. Use it to travel to Bestial Sanctum in Dragonbarrow. Go inside the large doors behind your arrival point and activate the grace.
  2. Go to the far end of the hall and speak to Gurranq. The Black Blade Kindred outside does not need to be fought.

Quest steps

Quest steps can include different outcomes. Read the branch, conditions and cutoffs before making a choice.

  1. Find the sanctum

    Branch: Main quest

D can mark the waygate after seeing a Deathroot, but you can use the gate behind Third Church of Marika without his introduction.

  2. Bring Deathroot

    Branch: Main quest

Obtain Deathroot from Tibia Mariners and the relevant dungeon reward chests. Hand each one to Gurranq for the next reward.

  3. Stop the fourth-root outburst

    Branch: Main quest

After the fourth handover, reload and prepare for him to attack. Damage him until he stops and asks you to cease. Stop attacking immediately, rest and speak again.

  4. Finish all nine

    Branch: Main quest

Keep returning Deathroot until the ninth handover. Collect the Ancient Dragon Smithing Stone and finish his final dialogue before he leaves.

Notes

  • Beast Eye reacts near remaining Deathroot. Its message is a nearby clue, not an item you must consume.
  • Do not keep attacking when the hostile episode ends. Killing him loses every unclaimed Deathroot reward.
  • Killing Gurranq directly also drops an Ancient Dragon Smithing Stone, but does not grant the other missing rewards.
  • Defeating Maliketh does not remove Gurranq from Bestial Sanctum before these handovers are complete.
  • Finishing all nine before meeting Maliketh changes the boss dialogue. It does not remove that boss fight.
  • He sometimes stands outside at night. Check outside or change the time before assuming he has disappeared.
