About this item

Examine the painting inside the Limgrave Artist's Shack first. Simply visiting the place shown in the picture does not unlock its reward.

Travel to Seaside Ruins on the southern Limgrave coast. Head northwest toward the gravestones and ruined stone arch southwest of Dragon-Burnt Ruins, keeping to the slope rather than jumping off the high cliff.

Find the seated painter's spirit among the headstones beside the arch. Approach and wait for it to fade, then pick up Incantation Scarab from the item it leaves. The painter appears where the picture was painted, rather than at the distant landmark shown in it.

Reminiscence of a painting titled "Homing Instinct."

The soul of the painter, and vestiges of the dead's last moments can be discovered by visiting the location depicted even now.

Where to find

Artist's Shack

Limgrave

Starting Site of Grace: Artist's Shack

  1. From Agheel Lake North in Limgrave, follow the road southeast and cross the bridge. Avoid the mounted soldiers and troll-pulled convoy if you are not ready to fight them.
  2. Take the road north at the fork beyond the bridge. As it bends northeast, leave it for the rising trail to the northwest. Follow that trail to Artist's Shack and activate its grace.
  3. Enter the ruined wooden shack and examine the Homing Instinct painting. You must collect the painting before its reward spirit becomes available.

Notes

  • Travel to Seaside Ruins on the southern Limgrave coast. Head northwest toward the gravestones and ruined stone arch southwest of Dragon-Burnt Ruins, keeping to the slope rather than jumping off the high cliff.

  • The reward is Incantation Scarab, a helmet that reduces incantation FP costs by 15% while increasing incoming hit damage by 10%. It is not the rune-boosting Gold Scarab talisman.
  • You do not need to defeat a boss, consume the painting or complete another quest to claim this reward. The spirit fades when approached; attacking it is unnecessary.
