Lionel the Lionhearted

Lionel appears as a Radahn Festival ally and later as one of Fia’s champions. His armor is a separate bed pickup in Leyndell.

Locations and access

Caelid · Festival ally

Starting Site of Grace: Chamber Outside the Plaza

Activate the Radahn Festival and speak to its participants in Redmane Castle’s courtyard. Enter the Wailing Dunes through the shore waygate and find Lionel’s gold sign among the battlefield summons.

Leyndell, Royal Capital · Armor pickup

Starting Site of Grace: Avenue Balcony

Enter Leyndell after obtaining two Great Runes and visiting the Two Fingers at Roundtable Hold. Follow the main avenue to the stairway down to Avenue Balcony grace.
From Avenue Balcony, descend the stairs and pass through the doorway. Turn right outside and drop over the balcony edge into the lower street.
Continue along the street to the small bridge on your left. Cross it, turn left and enter the small doorway. Go through the room and out its rear door.
Take the walkway on the left outside and climb its ladder. Walk across to the church doorway and activate Lower Capital Church grace.
Loot the bed beside the grace for Lionel's Helm, Armor, Gauntlets and Greaves, along with the separate Deathbed Dress. There is no enemy drop to farm.

Deeproot Depths · Fia’s champion

Starting Site of Grace: Across the Roots

From Across the Roots, enter the wide clearing beneath Godwyn’s body. Lionel appears during the final group of Fia’s champions.

Quest steps can include different outcomes. Read the branch, conditions and cutoffs before making a choice.

Optional festival cooperation
Branch: Main quest
Use his gold sign to call him against Radahn. No equipment reward requires summoning him first.
Fia’s champions
Branch: Main quest
Defeat the champion encounter to speak to Fia at Prince of Death’s Throne. Lionel’s armor is not awarded by that fight.

Reward or service	Condition	Details
Lionel’s Set	Loot the bed beside Lower Capital Church grace before Maliketh changes the capital.	Deathbed Dress is a separate item on the same bed. Neither requires killing a friendly Lionel.

His festival and champion appearances are different encounter roles.
The armor pickup does not require finishing Fia’s quest.
Lionel uses melee attacks and death sorcery as a champion. Do not let the other champions surround you while watching him.
Do not infer a separate rescue quest from the clothing found on the bed.
The Radahn Festival allows multiple NPC helpers. Lionel is one available ally, not the only solution to the fight.
