Starting Site of Grace: Castle Ensis Checkpoint

  1. From Castle Front, cross the northeastern bridge toward Castle Ensis. Pass or defeat the Troll Knight at the far end, then climb the large stairs on the left.
  2. Follow the path left at the top. Soldiers and dogs wait around the fires and stairway, so draw them out before climbing farther.
  3. Continue through the cave beyond the campfire and climb the ledges at the far exit. A Black Knight patrols the rising path ahead.
  4. Enter the open stone building on the left of the slope and open its chest for the cookbook. The closed checkpoint gate is farther uphill.
  5. From Checkpoint grace, retrace the downhill approach to the building. Neither opening the gate nor defeating Rellana is required.

Notes

  • Unlocks Royal Magic Grease and Drawstring Royal Magic Grease.
  • The book unlocks its recipes without being equipped or consumed. You also need the Crafting Kit from Kalé at the Church of Elleh to use Item Crafting.
  • You keep the book and its recipes in later Journeys. Its number identifies the contents rather than a required collection order.
  • Royal Magic Grease: each craft makes 1, using 1 Knot Resin and 1 Glintslab Firefly.
  • Drawstring Royal Magic Grease: each craft makes 1, using 1 Knot Resin, 1 Glintslab Firefly, and 1 String.
  • Royal Magic Grease adds 120 Magic attack power for 60 seconds. The drawstring version applies faster and adds 135, but lasts only 25 seconds.
  • These are flat weapon bonuses, rather than a percentage of the weapon's damage or a bonus that scales with your Intelligence.
  • Use a compatible weapon while using an affinity that allows weapon buffs. Another grease or weapon enchantment replaces the coating on that weapon.
  • Both recipes require a Glintslab Firefly and Knot Resin. Ordinary Glintstone Fireflies and Root Resin are different ingredients.
