Magnus the Beast Claw

Magnus the Beast Claw is the NPC invasion target that allows Varré’s initiation to be completed without invading other players.

Starting Site of Grace: Road of Iniquity Side Path

From the road below the northern broken bridge, head southwest into Writheblood Ruins. Look inside the eastern ruined building for a red invasion sign.
Use the sign to enter Magnus’s world. This is separate from the cellar containing the Sanguine Noble.

Quest steps can include different outcomes. Read the branch, conditions and cutoffs before making a choice.

Branch: Main quest
Receive Varré’s Festering Bloody Fingers first, then defeat Magnus through his sign. Return to Varré at Rose Church afterward.

Reward or service	Condition	Details
Great Stars	Defeat Magnus in his world.	This weapon is separate from the Great Stars carried by the nearby guarded carriage.
Varré’s invasion test	Defeat Magnus after receiving Varré’s task.	One victory completes the offline alternative; three failed or abandoned invasions of Magnus can also satisfy the invasion count.

Magnus is summoned through a red sign, rather than invading automatically as you enter the ruins.
He uses a large hammer and bestial incantations. Leave room to avoid his close-range attacks.
The ruins’ Sanguine Noble is a different encounter and does not replace this quest step.
No online subscription or player matchmaking is needed for this NPC route.
