Locations and access

Gatefront

Limgrave · First accord

When available: Before accepting the accord; Agheel Lake North is another reliable meeting grace.

Starting Site of Grace: Gatefront

  1. From Church of Elleh, follow the road north through the woods toward the soldiers at Gatefront Ruins.
  2. Activate Gatefront grace on the western side of the ruins, beside the road through Stormgate, and rest. Accept Melina’s accord when she appears.

Elden Throne

Leyndell, Royal Capital · The blocked Erdtree

When available: After defeating Morgott and examining the thorns.

Starting Site of Grace: Elden Throne

  1. Defeat Morgott at the top of Leyndell and activate Elden Throne grace. Walk up to the Erdtree's thorns and examine the blocked entrance.
  2. Return to the grace and rest. Speak to Melina to receive the Rold Medallion; it is a conversation reward rather than a corpse drop in the arena.

Forge of the Giants

Mountaintops of the Giants · The final decision

When available: Normal branch before inheriting the Frenzied Flame.

Starting Site of Grace: Forge of the Giants

  1. Defeat the Fire Giant and cross the chain onto the huge forge.
  2. Follow the rim to its grace and rest. Use the conversation with Melina when you are ready to continue.

Ruined church south of Outer Wall Phantom Tree

Capital Outskirts · Minor Erdtree Church

When available: While Melina’s church dialogue remains available.

Starting Site of Grace: Minor Erdtree Church

  1. From Outer Wall Phantom Tree, follow the road south to the small ruined church outside Leyndell.
  2. Activate the church grace, rest and select Talk to Melina for her conversation and Outer Order.

Quest steps

Quest steps can include different outcomes. Read the branch, conditions and cutoffs before making a choice.

  1. Accept the accord

    Branch: Main quest

Agree to take Melina to the foot of the Erdtree. You receive the Spectral Steed Whistle and can spend runes on levels at Sites of Grace. If you refused earlier, ask her again while resting.

  2. Visit Roundtable Hold

    Branch: Main quest

After attempting Margit or travelling beyond Limgrave, rest at a grace and take Melina’s invitation. Once the Hold is unlocked, return through the map.

  3. Listen at churches

    Branch: Main quest

At graces where Talk to Melina appears, use it before moving on. Her church conversations add context to the journey; she does not stand permanently beside every grace.

  4. Face Morgott

    Branch: Main quest

If available, her gold summon sign is outside Morgott’s arena. Calling her is optional. After victory, examine the Erdtree’s thorns and rest at Elden Throne to receive the Rold Medallion.

  5. Continue at the Forge of the Giants

    Branch: Main quest

Before this step: Melina has not left because of the Frenzied Flame.

Defeat the Fire Giant, reach the grace on the rim of the Forge of the Giants and tell Melina you are ready. This advances the story to Crumbling Farum Azula.

Progression cutoff: Choosing to continue commits the Forge of the Giants event.

  6. The Frenzied Flame branch

    Branch: Frenzied Flame

Inheriting the Frenzied Flame before the Forge of the Giants decision makes Melina leave permanently. You then carry out the Forge of the Giants event yourself.

Progression cutoff: Opening the Three Fingers door and inheriting the flame changes this branch.

  7. Removing the flame

    Branch: Frenzied Flame

Miquella’s Needle can remove the Frenzied Flame ending lock in Placidusax’s arena. It does not bring Melina back after she has left.

Notes

  • Defeating the Fire Giant, using the Forge of the Giants and defeating Maliketh are separate events. The capital changes to its ashen state after Maliketh.
  • Refusing the first accord does not permanently fail her story. Accept it later to gain its features.
  • Her absence while travelling through Leyndell does not remove your ability to level up or use Torrent.
  • The Morgott summon is help for that fight, not a requirement for the medallion.
  • The Frenzied Flame decision has ending consequences beyond Melina’s departure. Remove that lock before choosing another ending if you took the flame.
