Merchant Kalé

Kalé trades from the ruined Church of Elleh. His early shop helps you start crafting, and his conversation about Mistwood introduces Blaidd.

Starting Site of Grace: Church of Elleh

From the First Step, look north for the ruined church beyond the mounted Tree Sentinel. Keep wide of the rider if you are not ready to fight.
Enter the church and activate its grace. Kalé sits beside the campfire; the anvil nearby is the early smithing table.

Quest steps can include different outcomes. Read the branch, conditions and cutoffs before making a choice.

Buy the early essentials
Branch: Main quest
Speak to Kalé and open his shop. The Crafting Kit unlocks Item Crafting, while cookbooks add recipes. He also sells a torch, containers and basic supplies.
Ask about the howling
Branch: Main quest
Visit Mistwood Ruins in eastern Limgrave and listen for the wolf howling above the ruins. Return to Kalé and choose the conversation about it to receive Finger Snap.
Progression cutoff: Do this while Blaidd is still at Mistwood, before progressing him to later meetings.
Bring Blaidd down
Branch: Main quest
Return to Mistwood Ruins and use Finger Snap near the howling. Speak to Blaidd when he comes down to begin his Darriwil request.

Kalé’s Bell Bearing	Obtained if Kalé dies.	It transfers his shop to the Twin Maiden Husks. Keeping him alive preserves his dialogue.

Buying a cookbook does not give you its ingredients. You still need the required materials and any reusable container listed by a recipe.
The nearby Tree Sentinel is optional for reaching the church and using the shop.
Blaidd’s later quest can continue even if you missed the earliest howling meeting. That does not make the gesture conversation available indefinitely.
Kalé remains at Church of Elleh. The caravan storyline is unused content.
The early smithing table and Kalé’s shop are separate interactions. Use the table to strengthen an eligible weapon, then return to his menu for supplies.
