Miriel, Pastor of Vows

Miriel is the great tortoise at Church of Vows. He teaches both sorceries and incantations and explains the history connecting Radagon and Rennala.

Starting Site of Grace: Church of Vows

Reach Artist's Shack on eastern Liurnia's plateau. From the shack, follow the route north across the rocks, then take the slope northwest up toward the ruined church.
Activate Church of Vows grace and enter the roofless church with Miriel, the large turtle. The chest is to the right of the main entrance, beside the absolution basin.

Quest steps can include different outcomes. Read the branch, conditions and cutoffs before making a choice.

Open his teaching menu

Speak inside the church and ask to study. His ordinary spell stock is available without joining a covenant or completing a long personal quest.
Expand the lessons
Branch: Main quest
Give him a compatible sorcery scroll or incantation prayerbook. The listed spells become purchases; handing over the book does not immediately teach them for free.
Ask about the church and Radagon
Branch: Main quest
Finish the historical conversations if you want the context for the royal marriage and the statue’s secret in Leyndell.
Use absolution when needed
Branch: Main quest
If an eligible living NPC is hostile after your attacks, use Celestial Dew at the church’s basin for absolution. This is a separate interaction from Miriel’s shop.

Gold Sewing Needle and Golden Tailoring Tools	Open the chest inside the church.	These are environmental pickups, not gifts obtained by harming Miriel.

Giving a book to Miriel makes its lessons available at his shop. Do not expect the same book to remain available for a second teacher.
Absolution repairs eligible hostility. Treating it as a general resurrection service for dead quest NPCs can cost you an entire quest.
The Bell Bearing Hunter can occupy the church at night. Miriel’s temporary absence during that encounter does not mean his normal story has killed him.
The church chest can be opened without defeating Miriel or the night hunter.
He remains a useful teacher after other travelling instructors move or die. Keep him alive if you want one stable place for your spellbooks.
