In-game description
A letter bearing a terse message and an illustration of a monk, his hands held together.
"Seek me to the east if you wish to pursue the way of the warrior.
When you find me, you will challenge me to a bout. There is no need for words."
Where to find
Pickup at Highroad Cross
Scadu Altus
Starting Site of Grace: Highroad Cross
- Reach Highroad Cross in Scadu Altus, just beyond Castle Ensis's northern exit after Rellana. Collect Monk's Missive and the May the Best Win gesture beside the cross.
- Look beside Highroad Cross for the letter pickup. Collect it to obtain Monk's Missive and May the Best Win together.
Notes
- The drawing and challenge point to Dryleaf Dane at Moorth Ruins, east of Highroad Cross.
- Stand in front of Dane and perform May the Best Win to begin his duel. Repeated conversation will not start it.
- Defeating him gives Dryleaf Arts and Dane's Hat. Attacking him outside the challenge is unnecessary.
- The letter is a clue rather than a weapon, spellbook or consumable buff. The gesture is what starts the challenge.
- Losing the duel lets you try again. Winning does not permanently kill Dane, and his robe and matching wraps remain a separate corpse pickup beneath Recluses' River.
- Complete his earlier duel before entering the later battle against Leda's allies if you want Dryleaf Arts and his hat in this Journey.
