Starting Site of Grace: Castle Morne Rampart

Before you go

  • Fight the Night's Cavalry at night.
  1. Cross the Bridge of Sacrifice and follow the main road south through the Weeping Peninsula to Castle Morne Rampart.
  2. Rest at the grace and pass time until night. Look along the road beside the rampart for the black rider.
  3. Defeat this Night's Cavalry to receive the Ash. If you die and return during daylight, pass time until night again.
  4. The nearby tower holds the Great Turtle Shell, which has the skill built in. That shield pickup is separate from this transferable Ash.

Notes

  • This rider gives Barricade Shield and Nightrider Flail together. Great Turtle Shell is a separate nearby shield pickup.
  • The flail can build Blood Loss through repeated hits. Leave time for buildup to settle instead of repeatedly trading blows while mounted.
  • These riders appear at night. If the road is empty after you die, rest at a grace and pass time until night again before returning.
  • The horse and rider are separate targets. Bringing down the horse can knock the rider onto the ground, but killing only the mount does not award the encounter’s reward.
  • Use the dismount opening to attack the rider, then watch for the weapon being held upright. The rider can summon a replacement horse with an area attack around the mounting point.
  • The long weapon can still reach you as the horse passes. Turn to keep the rider visible rather than chasing directly behind it through another sweeping attack.
