About this cookbook

Unlocks Volcano Pot and Roped Volcano Pot. Each craft makes one pot; both require an empty Cracked Pot and two Volcanic Stones.

The roped version also uses one String and is dropped behind you. It is a separate recipe rather than a stronger forward throw.

Using a prepared pot returns the Cracked Pot to your available container supply. The stones and String are spent, so the reusable container does not make the recipe free.

Before you go

  • 3,000 runes
  1. Reach Altus Plateau using both Dectus Medallion halves at the Grand Lift of Dectus, or climb the Ruin-Strewn Precipice and defeat Magma Wyrm Makar.
  2. Travel around northern Altus and cross the rope bridge near Writheblood Ruins to Bridge of Iniquity. Follow the lower road with the cliff on your left.
  3. Near the Abductor Virgins, find the long ladder between two torches on that left cliff. Climb it and activate First Mt. Gelmir Campsite on the upper ledge.
  4. Continue northwest past the siege tower and cross the narrow natural rock bridge. A Grafted Scion drops into the next camp; defeat it or move past it to climb the ladder against the cliff.
  5. At the next landing, take the ladder on the left. The merchant is on the ledge along this climb. Stop at his campfire before continuing higher toward Ninth Mt. Gelmir Campsite.
  6. Buy the cookbook for 3,000 runes. The merchant is on the ladder route, before the higher Ninth Mt. Gelmir Campsite and Fallingstar Beast.

Notes

  • The roped version also uses one String and is dropped behind you. It is a separate recipe rather than a stronger forward throw.
  • Using a prepared pot returns the Cracked Pot to your available container supply. The stones and String are spent, so the reusable container does not make the recipe free.
  • These ordinary Volcano Pot recipes use Volcanic Stone. Hefty Volcano Pot uses Gas Stone, a Hefty Cracked Pot and a different cookbook.
  • The Crafting Kit unlocks Item Crafting, and this book adds its two recipes automatically. You do not equip or consume the book.
  • The merchant charges 3,000 runes. The selected route reaches his cliff ledge before the summit's Fallingstar Beast, so that boss is not needed for the purchase.
  • The book and learned recipes carry into later journeys. There is no need to collect the earlier nineteen volumes first.
