In-game description
Claw of a great red bear wielded without modification by Red Bear, whose name is lost to madness.
After killing the great red bear in a blood-soaked bout, he became fascinated by the untainted glory of its naked strength.
"I wish to be a bear, no more, and no less."
Skill
Slaughters prey with sharp claws in a great swipe of the arm. The attack creates a vacuum which deals continuous damage. Repeated inputs allow for up to two follow-up attacks.
Where to find
Rauh Base
Starting Site of Grace: Temple Town Ruins
Before you go
- To enter the Realm of Shadow, defeat Starscourge Radahn and Mohg, Lord of Blood, then touch the withered arm in Mohg's arena at Mohgwyn Palace.
- Reach Rauh Base through the cave north of Moorth Ruins.
- To enter the Realm of Shadow, defeat Starscourge Radahn and Mohg, Lord of Blood, then touch the withered arm in Mohg's arena at Mohgwyn Palace.
- From Moorth Ruins grace in Scadu Altus, ride northeast to the small triangular pool. Look for the cave beside a statue of Marika and a Scadutree Fragment.
- Enter the cave and follow it past the perfumers to the glowing golden tree. Take the path to its right down into the swamp.
- Turn left through the route beneath the rock and continue until you emerge into Rauh Base. Activate Ancient Ruins Base grace ahead.
- Follow the valley southwest toward Temple Town Ruins. A bow golem and an axe golem guard the approach; fighting them is optional if you can pass their attacks.
- Collect the map beneath the stele near the ruined town. This is the lower valley, not the upper ruins reached through Shadow Keep.
- Go to the map monument east of Temple Town Ruins. Look for the sealed spiritspring against the cliff to the east.
- Follow the path south-southwest from the spring and break the sealing stone beside the broken wall. Return to the spring and use Torrent to jump onto the higher ledge.
- Use the second spiritspring ahead to reach the top of the plateau. Enter Northern Nameless Mausoleum and descend its stairs.
- Defeat Red Bear inside Northern Nameless Mausoleum for Red Bear's Claw, Fang Helm and the three Iron Rivet pieces. Pelt of Ralva comes from a separate bear in Scadu Altus.
Notes
- Requires 20 Strength and 10 Dexterity, and weighs 4. Physical damage strongly favors Strength, with a smaller Dexterity contribution.
- Two-handing equips its matching claw for the Beast Claw moveset. It is a different class from ordinary Claws and does not need another copy to use both hands.
- Applies 45 fixed Blood Loss buildup on ordinary full-status contacts. It has no Arcane scaling, so Arcane does not improve that buildup.
- Red Bear Hunt costs 8 FP per stage. Up to two additional inputs give three stages for 24 FP total, with the last using both claws.
- The claw swipes leave damaging wind vacuums. Both use weapon attack power, rather than the wind being an independent Faith or Intelligence spell.
- The claws can apply Blood Loss, while the lingering wind contacts carry no weapon status buildup. The extra visible hits are not all extra bleed applications.
- Shard of Alexander improves the skill, and repeated contacts can build consecutive-hit bonuses. Godfrey Icon does not apply because it cannot be charged.
- Pelt of Ralva and Roar Medallion do not improve the claw skill simply because it imitates a bear. Those bonuses have different eligible spell or roar attacks.
- The broad sequence can keep hitting a nearby enemy, but the recovery and stamina cost grow with each input. It does not make the whole animation invulnerable.
- Uses Somber Smithing Stones to +10. Its skill and affinity are fixed, and grease or weapon enchantments cannot be applied.
- Red Bear in Northern Nameless Mausoleum gives the weapon and Iron Rivet outfit. Ralva and Rugalea are separate bear encounters with different rewards.
