Smithing-Stone Miner's Bell Bearing [2] from Sealed Tunnel unlocks unlimited purchases at 600 runes each. Buying all 12 costs 7,200 runes before the blacksmith's upgrade fees.

Ordinary weapons, shields and compatible casting tools use this upgrade path. Armor and talismans cannot be reinforced with these stones, and Somber weapons use a different material family.

Stone used to smith a variety of armaments. A particularly hard specimen.

Strengthens armaments up to +9.

Smithing stone is found throughout the Lands Between, and mining galleries built to excavate it can be found everywhere.

Before you go

  • Have 600 runes per item.
  • Offer Smithing-Stone Miner's Bell Bearing [2] to the Twin Maiden Husks.
  1. From Outer Wall Phantom Tree, descend into the shallow water southwest of the capital walls and find Sealed Tunnel's entrance.
  2. Activate the tunnel grace. Strike or roll into the false wall beside the torch to reveal the first mining room.
  3. Follow the right side of the room down past the mining enemies and wooden clutter. Open the chest for Smithing-Stone Miner's Bell Bearing [2]. The Onyx Lord farther inside is not required.
  4. Take the bearing to the Twin Maiden Husks at Roundtable Hold and choose the option to offer a bell bearing. Check their main shop afterward for the newly available items. Buy Smithing Stone [3] for 600 runes each.

  • Ordinary weapons, shields and compatible casting tools use this upgrade path. Armor and talismans cannot be reinforced with these stones, and Somber weapons use a different material family.
  • Take the weapon and stones to Hewg at Roundtable Hold. The Church of Elleh anvil stops at +3 and cannot perform this rank's upgrades.
  • A higher stone rank cannot replace the lower ranks or skip upgrades. Changing a compatible weapon's affinity later keeps its reinforcement level rather than requiring another set of stones.
  • Fixed mineral deposits and corpse pickups do not return after resting. Random enemy drops and finite merchant stock are separate from the unlimited bell-bearing shop.
  • The handed-in miner's bearing keeps its upgrade-material shop available in later Journeys. It does not provide free stones or skip the rune cost.
