Iji's roadside smithy

Liurnia of the Lakes

Starting Site of Grace: Road to the Manor

Before you go

• Have 6,000 runes.

1. Follow western Liurnia's road north through Kingsrealm Ruins. Strike the false wall closing the road at the northern end of the ruins.
2. Continue to Road to the Manor and speak to the large seated smith, Iji, beside the anvil.
3. Buy Somber Smithing Stone [4] for 6,000 runes. Iji has three of this rank; resting does not refill them. You do not need to complete Ranni's quest or kill him to use the shop.

Altus Tunnel bell-bearing unlock

Altus Plateau

Starting Site of Grace: Altus Tunnel

Before you go

• Defeat the Crystalian pair in Altus Tunnel.

1. Reach Altus Plateau and travel into the woodland south of the Minor Erdtree. Find Altus Tunnel's mine entrance in the rock wall; it is a different dungeon from Old Altus Tunnel.
2. Take the entrance lift down, activate the grace and follow the mining rooms toward the boss doors. Watch for crystal snails and miners along the route.
3. Defeat both Crystalians, the spear wielder and ringblade wielder. Their reward is Somberstone Miner's Bell Bearing [2].
4. Take the bearing to the Twin Maiden Husks at Roundtable Hold and choose the option to offer a bell bearing. Check their main shop afterward for the newly available items. Buy Somber Smithing Stone [4] for 6,000 runes each.

Notes

• One stone upgrades a compatible special armament from +3 to +4, plus the blacksmith's rune fee. Each Somber rank uses one stone rather than the ordinary path's 2, 4 and 6 pattern.
• Somberstone Miner's Bell Bearing [2] from Altus Tunnel unlocks unlimited purchases at 6,000 runes each from the Twin Maiden Husks.
• Iji sells three of this rank for 6,000 runes each before his stock runs out. The bell-bearing shop supplies more without that limit.
• Ordinary Smithing Stones with the same number are not substitutes. The material family is set by the weapon's upgrade path, rather than whether you like its skill or appearance.
• The earlier Somber upgrades must be completed in order. Finding a high rank early does not let you jump directly from +0 to that reinforcement level.
• The handed-in Somberstone bearing preserves its upgrade-material shop in later Journeys. Fixed world pickups remain one-time collections within the current Journey.
